Dalton sighed as he looked at a statue. This hunk of bronze is what is left of his friend, his hero, his lover. The first Beyondman. He ran his hand along it's leg before he solemnly took to the air. He had taken over as the hero for what? Forty? Fifty? Sixty years now? He had lost count. He watched the city as he flew over it and a small smile spread across his face. He'd miss it. He slowly lowered himself down to the street. A huge mob of people stood at an empty area, full of lights and microphones. The crowd was filled with a sad feeling, but some touches of happiness. This was his goodbye announcement. Everyone bore his insignia on their chests, to show their appreciation. He calmly flew over the crowd, once they saw him they burst into applause. He waved and tried to manage a smile as he landed in front of the microphone. He cleared his throat, trying to choke back tears. "Hello my citizens, it is with a heavy heart, I must announce my leave from South City. As time has gone by, more and more heroes have emerged." He motioned to a small group of people standing aside him. "Which has made my job unnecessary, and I feel it's time to move on. Move on to a city in need, a city that could use me. I love you all, but I leave you in capable hands. They will keep the streets safe, and I will come visit from time to time. I just feel like it's time to move on." He said as he floated up and landed at the foot of the crowd. He wrapped a young fan who was in tears in a soft hug. The young girl smiled. "You're my hero Beyondman." He gave her a small smile back. "I know, and I'm sorry I have to leave, but you'll have new heroes now." He patted her on the head and made his way through the crowd, saying his goodbyes. Once he made it to the back he started to float up into the air. He gave a sad wave to the people he'd spent so long protecting. He then took off at full speed, feeling as if he left his heart behind. He was heading to New York City
