This video clip is explaining why Beyonce turned down Reebok. Beyonce is planning on re-launcging her athleisurewear clothing brand ‘Ivy Park’ sometime late this year. Beyonce had meetings with Reebok, the Jordan Brand, and Under Armour.
Beyonce aims for diversity when deciding who to work with. Beyonce questioning the Reebok team and seeing the lack if inclusion of black bodies is astounding. By her saying “Nobody in this room, reflects my background, my skin color and where I’m from and what I want to do” makes Reebok take a second-look a themselves and make changes throughout the company. ESPN host on The Jump, Rachel Nichols said ““I love…that’s an amazing story. Because it’s one thing to talk about ‘Oh, I want diversity. I want representation.’ But for a company not to realize, with Beyoncé’s track record, we better put people in the room, we better be able to elevate people who can do the job and to be able to do the job, you have to come from where she’s coming from.” Which is what Beyonce is expecting everyone starting thinking like not only for her but for other women and people of color that comes in after her.
