It's another one of those moments.
It's usually Kai who snaps Takao out of his funk. In this episode of the V Force, where the BBA goes to fight the Psykiks, Kai, deeply affected by the Yuya fiasco, was unable to fight his opponent seriously just because of their similar expressions.
This time roles were reversed Takao was the one to encourage and make Kai see the truth. He was the first to spot the anomaly. The rest of the team offered encouragement and advice but Takao directly hit the nail and pointed things directly to Kai.
This made the "anchor" role mutual. Just like Kai's voice and directness were often the reality check Takao needed, the same goes for Kai. It's a two way thing.
The encourage, inspire and snap each other out. What a reciprocal and nice relationship.
