Hahahaha well thank you, but I’m not the one getting married!!

My newest betta, Thranduil, is pretty poorly, and I have no idea why. 

He's a tail biter, but it's never gotten this bad. He's not swimming, won't come up to eat, and when he does move, it's all uncoordinated. (he's flipping to his side.)

Thought it was just a swim bladder issue, like I fed him too much, so I quarantined him in around 4 gallons, with nothing for him to hurt his fins more, just a little cave rock to hide in. And fasted him for a day. Next day, tried again, but now he won't eat.

And he's got like a blue section near his head?

any ideas on what this is??

The quarantine tank I've dosed for 3 days with aquarium salt, and stress coat, like you use for fin rot, etc. 

Funny enough, his tank mate, Leon, has the most perfect fins ever. Like, no stress lines, no nothing. So, if they're sharing the same tank water and all, if it was bacterial, Leon would have it, yeah?

One of my bettas, Thranduil, was acting strange the other day, like he slammed himself against the tank walls over and over, zooming around, and then just stopped. So, I isolated him in a quarentine tank to keep an eye out on him. Tonight I was transferring him back to the 20 gallon (which he split shares with Leon) and when I scooped him in the cup, he flipped out.

And then he went bottom up.

I screamed bloody murder and put him back in the quarentine tank, holding him in my hand. He slowly slowly began breathing again.

When he seemed stable enough, ie not FLIPPED OVER DEAD I've got him in the big tank. 

He's labor breathing, like gasping and his fins are clamped, and his side fins move alternately, like left out right out, not both out both in. (does that make sense?)

I don't know what to do. He's been in the quarantine tank for three days, each day water was changed 80%, to keep ammonia level down and such. 

But I am still a novice when it comes to these fish, man. I'm still crying; such a pretty boy.

Please help??

Hey there! :)

I've never had that issue with a tank before, although I've still only cycled a handful of tanks yet. I know that it did take ridiculously long at times for it to get down to 0 but the fact that your nitrites are still 0 and you have nitrates is what's throwing me off, too.

Haha it’ll all be worth it when you’re done! What plants do you have?

so far i've got java fern, anubias, cryptocoryne lutea, and a bit of ludwigia i'm trying to salvage from my failed attempt at keeping it before

UUUUUUURRrrggg! I keep seeing this on my dashboard and it makes me want a planted nano tank. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE MELISSA?
