Alexandra Petri, the mind behind emo Kylo Ren, earned the wrath of the Reylo fandom when she claimed that women who ship Reylo or find Kylo remotely intresting do so for supposedly “superfiscial” reasons, that they really shouldn’t have any sympathy for his character and should find a “truly supportative” guy.

To quote her own words:

“I’m like, internet, this isn’t a meet-cute. You can all do so much better than somebody who abducts you. Just because we call it a bridal carry doesn’t mean it’s okay. All these teens were sending me videos of them playing the oboe and I’m like, ‘You can all do better. You deserve a nice man.’ Then we get into the Han Solo, ‘I’m a nice man’ nonsense. Find a good supportive fellow instead!”

Of course, this ignorant statement ignores legitimate reasons to view Kylo as a tragic or sympathetic figure or the pains that Reylos take to analyze every single note and every piece of canon.

However....that claim that women are driven solely by superficial reasons to do something sounds disturbingly familiar...........I wonder where I heard it before?

Oh wait..........it was during the last American election when the media was smearing Bernie Sanders and his supporters, denigrating male supporters as “Bernie Bros” that supposedly just plain hate women and don’t want to see a woman break through the glass ceiling(never mind Clinton’s own hawkishness, corruption and neoliberalism!).  They continued to be blamed for the rise of Trump just because we had vocal Green Party supporters or vocal boycotters, Bernie-Or-Busters or those that vote anyone remotely left of Hillary.  And as for women?  This quote is eerily resembling of exactly the allegations Alexandra Petri laid against Kylo “stans”:

Looking at these outrageous claims, it’s almost like left-wing feminists or women whom viewed the last election from the perspective of what policies work for America or want the American toxic right-wing political discourse to move left(even through at the end of the day, Sanders himself is just a social democrat) dosen’t exist, and those that supposedly claim to be so are doing so just because they want to get a boyfriend or whatever.  And considering how they tried to homogenize all Sanders supporters as white men, it’s almost like minorities that could never forgive the Clintons for the 1994 Crime Bill and what it did to African-Americans never existed.

I love the fake outrage from bernie bros and I love how quickly they all take on the same arguments.
