If I can tell a story about the game I’ll be as detailed as possible to make it easy for the viewer to understand what’s going on. I’ll remove comments like “enemies over there!” if the direction doesn’t translate or add to the story. In this current project the game isn’t longer than a 15 minute rough cut and the rest is the guys talking and eating lunch, but sometimes those moments can be more interesting than the actual game. I usually remove arguments and rule breaking unless it’s worthy of discussion. I recently kept a piece of a guy breaking the rules to show how the players react to dishonest game play. However, I strive to not make fun of people in the videos at their expense (or without their permission). If you’ve been in one of my videos and you feel like my portrayal of you has been unjust I want to apologize. Please contact me and I’ll take the video down and re-edit it. Such was the case of one video from Berget 14. BERGET 14 DRAMA TALK The first day at 3 AM we walked in a circle for 4 km until a guy twisted his ankle. We carried him to a road after which he was taken to the hospital. There were some remarks about the leadership of that group, some of which I kept in the video, and later removed by request.  I’m not talking about the guys from Finland, they were great and everyone loved them from what I could hear. I was the last guy in line of that group and I didn’t hear much of the discussion but “dick measuring contest” and macho behavior” was mentioned. I think everyone’s adrenaline was high from the start, which in hind sight feels pretty stupid misplaced, because the enemies’ main forces were far away. If I attended again I think I’d be a bit more relaxed. The first day is summed up in the following video:

Berget lost footage As Fox 3 Rangers our last stand was in the woods between Town and UPIR respawn. After dying I walked through Town and experienced this. I realized I’d missed out on a lot of Larperating, but in an event this big you have to pick your battles.

The Ranger role meant long walks and a lot of mountain climbing, lying still in the woods for hours (mosquito shroud and gloves were a life saver) and a high risk of meeting superior fire power.

No complaints, just informing, it’s up to you to choose the appropriate level of difficulty. Pack lightly, get out at 3 am and do your best to battle fogging issues.

The only con I have about the event is that I felt a bit disconnected from the story by being out in the woods for so long, but then again, I chose my own battle. Not blaming the event hosts or my “superiors”, I’m just hindsighting that a little more contact with civilians during the 4 days would have been nice. We were going to get more high value target missions but always at the last second before deploying we’d encounter the recurring theme through the entire campaign “there’s been a change of plans”.

Again, not complaining, that’s just Ranger HQ adapting to new situations, props to them! That’s what you have to do, analyze, adapt, redirect, overcome.

Hey guys, I’m back from #Berget14, had a great time and broke a lot of stuff. #Berget14 - NAF Ranger Squad, Foxhound 3, Rear Group - Day 1 A preview of many walks to come. The first day ended early with an injury which turned out to be a good team building exercise and a fun experience, the most practical and rewarding task we got to do all day. Before that we climbed the wrong mountain and I lost a mag. I told the injured guy to go search for it after he's healed :) The line drawn on the map isn't 100% correct, just an estimate of our path. Shout out to the Finnish guys of Foxhound 3 who did a great job leading us.
