berdly is bad at math and a part of his inferiority superiority complex with regards to his intelligence is this deep-rooted sense of severe inadequacy when it comes to the subject.
like.... possibly to the point of actual panic attacks and feeling like being Bad At Math means that something about him is fundamentally broken. (there it is, there's the projection.)
so if thats the case of Course he would posit himself as a Math God because it staves off that inadequacy, and acknowledging that he's bad at math is too painful, because that would be admitting "haha yeah my brain is fucking broken and can't process numbers right." and That would be... Painful.
