But the desperate meows kept going after I paused and muted the game. And it came from the hallway.

So I opened my apartment door and in the same moment Benni (if that’s his name), my downstairs neighbor’s new cat bolted inside and froze. Apparently he was on the wrong floor and he was so upset and confused cause his home looked so different.

His owner was in the hallway too and tried to call him, but he paced through my apartment, desperately wailing and very confused. At first I waited for him to figure it out by himself, I wasn’t too eager to grab a cat I don’t know while he’s in distress, but poor Benni was completely overwhelmed. So I eventually pushed him towards the hallway and his owner. He didn’t even acknowledge my presence. I had to shove him out and then quickly close the door behind him cause he wanted to come back inside, as the neighbor was apologizing and thanking me.
