Heal: My character will tend to your character’s wounds, or be at their side when they’re sick.

Ben was lying on their bed, moaning like he was dying of some exotic disease. Which he wasn’t. At all. If anyone had a right to be moaning it was Narcissa. She was the one who had been up all night with Lyra, while Ben swore up and down that he just couldn’t get up. He was far too sick.

With a cold.

He was such a baby. He always had been. Even now that he was a grown man, with children of his own. It was so obvious that he was the youngest in his family, Narcissa was sometimes surprised he managed to dress himself.

But because Narcissa was such a good wife she had decided to make him chicken soup. Or at least attempt to make it. The dirty looking swill didn’t really look like soup. More like dish water with some vegetables floating in it. When she placed the bowl in front of him he screwed up his nose.

“What’s that meant to be?”

Narcissa glared back at him until he picked up the spoon she had left on the tray. “It’s chicken soup. To make you feel better.”

Ben pushed the spoon around the bowl, very unenthusiastically. After a few seconds he paused and looked up at Narcissa quizzically, “Is there any actual chicken in here?”  

 Oh dear. Between dealing with four children, one baby and the big lump of a child before her Narcissa had completely forgotten the key ingredient.

“No, but you still have to eat it. It’ll make you feel better, I promise.”

Bleed: My character will injure your character

“I’ll go do it right now then,” Narcissa told her sister more confidently than she felt. She didn’t actually want to go.

Bella had her arms folded. Her facial expression didn’t waver as she called Narcissa’s bluff, “I want witnesses. For proof.”

“I’ll make sure everyone knows it was me,” Narcissa replied, plucking her wand from the common room table and spinning around to exit. She made her way through the corridors, down to the Quidditch pitch where she knew Ben would be practicing with Tobias. Why did Claire have to go open her big mouth and blab all about what good friends Ben and Narcissa were? Even though it was true, her sisters – and everyone in Slytherin actually- didn’t need to know it. Now Narcissa had to deal with this whole situation, when she could have been painting her nails instead.

Her hunch proved correct and when she finally reached the pitch the two boys were flying around, although it didn’t appear that much actual practice was happening. She didn’t want to have to yell, so Narcissa raised her arm up and lazily waved. Luckily for her Ben noticed and zoomed over. Tobias followed, but hung back a bit. Narcissa didn’t care. He was idiot. Finally Ben got close enough that she wouldn’t have to yell. Luckily for her, he stayed hovering on his broom a few feet above the ground. It was the perfect height actually.

“You have to tell everyone this was me,” she called up, covering her eyes so she could see him.

“What was-“ Ben started, but before he could finish his sentence Narcissa had pointed her wand at him.

“Locomotor wibbly.”

 Expecting: Our characters find out they are expecting a child together

As Narcissa hurled the contents of her stomach into the toilet bowl, she was positive this wasn’t how you were meant to feel. You were meant to be filled with happiness. Excitement. A slight nervousness maybe, but overall Narcissa had always imagined when she first found out she was pregnant that she would feel overjoyed.

Not this weird combination of anxiety and sadness and fear. There was delight there too, but that was currently being dulled by all the other emotions.

She flushed the toilet and took a step back, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. There was a knock at the door, and Ben called out from the other side, “You okay there Cissa?” He sounded so chirpy that it killed Narcissa. That was how she was supposed to be feeling.

“I’m…I’m fine,” she answered, trying her best to sound reassuring. But it obviously didn’t work, because before she could say anything else Ben pushed the door open and crammed himself into the tiny bathroom with her.

Squeezing past the sink, he placed himself directly in front of Narcissa and gently grabbed her face with both of his hands. “What’s wrong? Is everything ok?”

His concern finally broke Narcissa. Throwing her arms around his neck, she pulled Ben close. “Please don’t hate me. I just-“she broke off, hugging him tighter. “It’s so soon and we don’t have anyone and…” Somehow, without realising it, Narcissa had started crying. She took a deep breath and tried to continue, “And it’s just a reminder that I can’t ever go back. I’m so sorry. I’m happy, I’m really happy. Just not as happy as I should be.”

Ben peeled back from Narcissa and looked down her. She steeled herself for him to tell her she was an awful person.

Instead he just smiled and wiped away her tears with his thumb. “Well one of us has to worry. And by the time you’re waddling around, you’ll have forgotten all about this.” He grinned widely, “You’re going to get so big you know.”
