“check one two, come in YN” your earpiece crackled “can you hear us?”

“yes sir, loud and clear” you said adjusting it

“we’re going on air in 10, your first interview is Rios” the manager said making your stomach drop

your history with Richard dated back to his Palmeras days, your interviews had gone so viral for the tension and straightforwardness you two shared that they had began shipping you two together; begging Sky Sports to keep pairing you two together.

the constant proximity not only caused the tensions to rise bur gave way for a new feeling to brew, one you couldn’t let take over your professionality, you had a job and you were going to get it done.

“surly not” you laugh humorlessly

“nope” he says popping the p “and he’s the man of the hour”

Richard walks up to you, pulling the towel slung over his shoulder off and throwing it on the floor with his waterbottle

“miss me mi corazon?” he smirks throwing the bottle aside

“quite the opposite” you say not batting an eye

“still as spicy as ever” he says

“for you? always” you add with a strained smile

“well then let’s get onto it so you can get to flirting with my teammates” he snaps

“is someone jealous?” you mock

“not a bit” Richard bites back “just wondering what they did to deserve your kindness”

“oh they’re actual ballers, they don’t throw themselves on the floor and cry wolf at a meaningless, small challenge for the ball” you shoot

Richard blinks, a look passes his eyes, one you’ve never seen before, before his resolve hardens and he straightens up. You proceed the interview, but the atmosphere is off, Richard is almost obedient to your jabs, answers smoothly and calmly, not a lick of bite back in his tone.

You shake off the feeling of guilt bubbling in your stomach, continuing your interviews as normal before finishing up. As the crew packs away you let congratulate them on a job well done before grabbing your things and making your way to the car park.

“you know it’s very rare that someone call me a fake footballer and it actually hurt me” a voice said from the tunnel

“fuck” you breathe out “you scared me you asshole”

“you scare easily” Richard says pushing off the wall

“you would too if a dark shadow was waiting for you outside in the fucking dark!” you yell “what the hell are you still doing here anyways?”

“waiting for you” he says simply

“stalker” you say rolling your eyes “anyways it’s been a long day Richard, if you were waiting for an apology-

“i was waiting for an explanation actually” he says

“google is free” you sigh “you over exaggerate tackles after making aggressive tackles yourself, dishing it but not being able to take it is pussy”

a beat of silence passes

“wow” Richard breathes out

“is that all? my feet are killing me here” you whine

“here i thought we had an enemies to lovers going on” Richard laughs dryly

“i don’t think your girlfriend would approve of you thinking that” you say raising a brow

“girl- that’s not my girlfriend bébé, that was my sister” Rios says with a laugh “is that why you came guns blazing today?”

“what!” you yell feeling exposed “no!”

“ah nena” Richard smirks stepping dangerously close to you “your bite today was harsh because it was laced with jealousy”

“it’s getting late” you say going to take a step back, a step Richard denied as he pulled you in, lips connected and hand snaked around the small of your back to press you into him.

You felt interviews of frustration, and anger pour into the messy kiss of tongue and teeth as Richard pressed into you like you would disappear. Your breaths mixed together as you pulled away

“it is getting late” Richard postulated

“yeah” you say clearing your throat

“you get home safely nena” Richard smirks backing away from you, you watch him disappear back into the stadium, your face hot despite the winter air.
