A/N So our dear and beautiful Anon requested fluff, guys, I give you fluff. Enjoy my darlings!!! xxx
(y/n/n) = your nickname :)
Summary: A nice evening with your childhood best friend reveals feelings the both of you were trying to deny for a long time.
A beautiful sunny day was the one that was shining above London. You had your chin in your hand as you gazed out of the window as your dad drove to the house of your best friend to have a picnic with his parents and yours as they were very close friends.
Your mind wandered to the last time you saw him, today it had been exactly a month since you hadn’t seen your best friend since childhood so to say you were excited was beyond words.
The ride to the house you knew too well was so long, or at least that’s how you felt it. Suddenly, the car stopped in front of the big and familiar house you’d spent a lot of time in since childhood.
You stepped out of the car as your parents did the same, you were carrying a bottle of wine while your mum had the rest of the food. Just as you were about to ring the doorbell, the door opened just to reveal Wanda and Tim. The parents of Benedict, your best friend.
“(y/n), dear! It’s so good to see you again!”
Said Wanda as she hugged you tightly, you obviously hugged her back
“It’s so good to see you guys too.”
When you separated from her embrace, Tim hugged you instead as his wife went to welcome your parents.
“We brought some wine for the picnic.”
You said, after you said hello to Tim as you held the bottle in the air. The older man took it from you with a soft smile.
“Thank you (y/n). Ben is waiting for you in the garden.”
Your heartbeat quickened at the mention of Benedict. When you were fifteen years old, you realised that you felt something more powerful than just friendship for him but you never said a word, afraid that he wouldn’t reciprocate you and the beautiful friendship you two had for years would turn into something awkward, something irreversible.
“Do you mind if I go and greet him?”
You asked politely. Timothy chuckled slightly
“You don’t have to ask, (y/n). You know this is your house too.”
You smiled at his words and entered the rather familiar house. Your (e/c) eyes travelled all over the living room, all the pictures that adorned the place brought a smile to your lips as most of them were of you and Ben as babies, then as children and finally, as teenagers.
“You’ve grown since I last saw you, (y/n/n).”
You turned around at the sound of your best friend, locking eyes with him as a soft smile graced your lips
“Hello to you too, Ben.”
You said before he walked over to you, now standing next to you in front of the fireplace where you were admiring all the pictures of you two.
The both of you were staring at the pictures as if in some sort of a trance, which was broken when he heard voices near the main entrance. Benedict grabbed your hand in his, making a faint blush paint your cheeks.
“Come with me, I want to show you something.”
You nodded at him, not wanting your voice to fail you at that moment as he led you to the backyard. Another place that you know way too well. The soft breeze made your (h/c) hair fly slightly as your dress also moved with the sweet wind. You were wearing a nice pink dress, off the shoulder and it was very comfortable.
Ben led you through the garden, never letting go of your hand as you two deepened in the backyard.
When your eyes caught sight of his little surprise, you couldn’t help the smile that adorned your face.
“Benedict.” you whispered in pure surprise at what he had prepared for the both of you.
There, beneath a large tree laid a soft, white blanket with different types of food over it, there were also some cups of tea with their respective teapot and all. Shining cutlery was neatly placed along with fruit in cubes, sandwiches and pastries.
“I hope you like it.”
he said, scratching his neck nervously. You blushed slightly and looked down to your feet, trying to hide your rosy cheeks.
“Of course I like it, it’s beautiful.”
You said, keeping your eyes glued to the floor. Then, you felt how he pulled you over to sit on the soft blanket that laid on the freshly cut grass. Once the two of you were sitting on the blanket, Ben prepared you a cup of tea firstly before making one for himself.
Taking a sip from it, you smiled in the cup as it was just how you liked it.
“May I ask, why the mini-picnic?”
You questioned, making him chuckle slightly.
“I just wanted to make something special for you,” There it was, your faint blush painting your cheeks once more. “You are my best friend.” And there it was, the sound of your heart shattering when he said friend. Reminding you that he would only see you as a friend.
A sad smile adorned your lips and Benedict was quick to notice your change in demeanor. He pulled some cupcakes from the cute basket that was between the both of you.
“My mum made some carrot cupcakes.”
He said, handing you one cute cupcake with white frosting, you smiled up at him, this time, a genuine smile as the previous thought vanished from your mind.
“Thank you! You know I love these ones.” you said before eating the pastry with the cup of tea.
Once you both finished eating the cupcake and drank most of the tea in the small cup, a satisfied sigh escaped your lips as you cherished this moment with your best friend.
“I’ve missed this, Ben… this time we spent together.”
You said in a soft voice. “I’ve missed it too… and, well, I’ve missed you.”
At his words, you lowered your gaze, smiling like an idiot “I’ve missed you too, Ben.” he smiled at you at your words. The curly haired boy stared at you as you kept your gaze low, as if finding the cup of tea in your hands very interesting all of a sudden.
Little did you know that Benedict, despite having many girls from school practically begging him to go out with him, had fallen for his best friend.
He loved that he knew you too well and that you knew him too, maybe even better than himself. He liked how kind and polite you were with everyone, even if they didn’t deserve your kindness. You were a walking ray of sunshine that illuminated Ben’s life since childhood.
And today, he couldn’t wait another day without you knowing his true feelings towards you. Benedict was ready to pour his heart and soul to you, more than he had already done. He was ready to take the risk of you not loving him back or for you to reciprocate his feelings.
“(y/n).” he called, putting his hand on top of yours, making you look him directly in the eye, drowning in his mysterious pair of orbs as they never stayed in the same colour.
“Yes?” you asked, your voice sounded as if you were in a trance, staring at your best friend whom you grew to love.
Ben took a deep breath, trying to hold onto the confidence he built all morning only to find it was slipping through his fingers.
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
You felt how your heartbeat quickened, your eyes were locked with his as he thought of the perfect words to say.
“Listen, (y/n/n)... I… I want you to know that… gosh, how do people do this.” you chuckled at the last part of his sentence, even though he muttered it, you were quick to catch his words. Ben took a deep breath, and said:
“(y/n), I want you to know that… that you are the kindest person in the world, the most intelligent and beautiful girl that has ever stepped foot on Earth.”
A deep blush came to your cheeks, making you look down when he said the word beautiful. Then, you felt how Benedict lifted your chin with his fingers, now being much closer than before.
“You are, (y/n). You are beautiful and I’m lucky to have you as my best friend.”
A smile was growing on your face at his words “I’m lucky to have you too, Ben.” he chuckled before turning towards the basket trying to find something.
Ben faced you again, this time holding a little box in his hand while the other was still on top of your hand.
Was he going to propose? No, that’d be absurd, (y/n)! control yourself!
You mentally screamed at yourself at these thoughts as you were only seventeen.
“I want to promise you something.” you broke free from your trance at his words, now focusing completely on Ben as he let go of your hand and opened the box only to reveal a beautiful ring in rose gold with two little diamonds that complimented the main stone which was shaped in form of a heart.
“I actually spent all my money on this,” you laughed at this, mirroring his smile “You didn’t have to.” you said, now paying all your attention to the ring “Well, my dad paid half of it. Anyways, I want to promise you… that I will always be there for you as you had been there for me throughout my life. I want you to know, (y/n), that you are one of the most important people in my life and that this ring is the symbol of my friendship… and… and the love I held for you.”
Your (e/c) eyes watered slightly at his words as never, in your entire life, has someone ever said something as significant like Ben’s words.
“Because I love you, (y/n). I’ve loved you for some time now and seeing as this is our last year of school, I wanted you to know that.”
He put the ring in your middle finger, it fitted perfectly, not too tight nor too loose, it was just perfect. You just stared in shock at the ring that was now wrapped around your finger. Did this actually happen? You questioned yourself, not being able to take your eyes off the ring.
On the other hand, the silence was killing Ben, were you going to accept him? Were you going to walk away? Do you feel the same? Hence, he felt as if the world could swallow him at any moment as every second that passed, he started to lose hope of you reciprocating his innocent love.
But then, the sun seemed to shine brighter, the birds seemed to sing louder, the moment that was already beautiful turned into a perfect one as he heard your words “I love you too, Ben.”
A plethora of immense emotions wrapped his soul as the petals of your love grew in his heart. Benedict now understood when people referred to someone deeply in love as a lovesick teenager as the emotions were too much, it was all too much to handle in one day as he discovered you, his best friend, the one he had loved since you two were twelve, loved him back.
Ben didn’t waste another second to kiss you, something he wanted to do since he saw you walk through the door of his house. You obviously kissed him back. It was for both of you, your first kiss and you couldn’t be happier it was with Benedict as he couldn’t be happier it was with you.
Neither of you noticed that you two were being watched by your parents as well as Ben’s parents “You owe me ten pounds, Wanda.” said your mum to her friend as she handed the money to her. “And you owe me twenty pounds, (y/f/n)” said Tim. Your dad cursed under his breath as he handed him the money.
“Should we call them? The food is ready for the picnic.” asked your mum “No, let them be. They have food for themselves.” replied Tim.
Meanwhile, you both separated from the kiss. gazing into each others’ eyes “You are a great kisser.” you said in a low voice. Ben chuckled at you before he saw, from the corner of his eyes, your parents and his looking at them from one of the windows of the first floor. “Our parents are watching,” he murmured.
You smiled at him “Then, why don’t we give them a demonstration of how to kiss properly?”
Benedict smiled at you adoringly “You don’t have to say it twice, love.” and with that, you two kissed again as every emotion was poured into the moment your lips connected with his, as if the world around you disappeared and it was just you and Ben forevermore.

[Part 1]
The sun was peeking through the kitchen window when Olivia dragged you out of your room.
She was wearing white overalls patterned with yellow flowers and a white shirt tucked underneath it, her hair pulled up in two pigtails and a big smile plastered on her face. The excitement was radiating off her like the rays of sun outside, and even though you were feeling nervous and slightly uncomfortable, her happiness was enough to make you shake off your uneasiness.
That was the day of your ex in-laws’ anniversary party, and you’d be attending it after much insistence from them. Greg and Laura were the sweetest couple you’d probably ever met, and you owed them much. They’d helped you tons during your pregnancy, and had taken care of Liv whenever you’d needed them to, though the same couldn’t be said about their son…
“Come on, mommy!” Liv pulled you by the hand towards the door, and you couldn’t help but laugh at her enthusiasm. She absolutely loved visiting her grandparents, especially when it meant she’d be able to play in the pool and eat as much candy as her stomach could handle. “We’re gonna be laaaate,” she whined and you rolled your eyes, shaking your head as your removed your wrist from her grasp in order to take your purse and the bottle of wine you’d be giving Greg and Laura from the kitchen counter.
You were wearing a long floral summer dress that contrasted well with your skin and held a modest cleavage, and was tied back by two strings that met behind your neck. The party would be held in their house, so it’d be something a bit more casual; just for family and friends.
The word ‘family’ was what was scaring you though. You knew that he’d be there - he was Laura and Greg’s son, after all - but it was enough to make you anxious…
You shook those thoughts away when you heard the doorbell ring.
A smile immediately stretched on your lips and Liv jumped excitedly beside you, running towards the door and pushing it open to reveal a grinning Benedict standing on the doorway. His eyes connected with yours for a brief moment before he focused his attention on the little girl claiming his attention.
“Hey, Livie,” Benedict said, taking his hands out of his pockets and kneeling in front of her so she could hug him. You watched the scene and couldn’t help but swoon at how loving Benedict was with your daughter. He wrapped his arms around Liv's waist and lifted her up so he was carrying her back inside, her giggles echoing around the living room as he approached you on the kitchen counter. “Hello, love,” he said, taking your hand into his free one and pressing it to his lips affectionately.
“Hey, Ben. Thanks for coming,” you held onto his hand and pulled him a little closer. “Ready to go, Liv?” you looked at her and she smiled and nodded enthusiastically.
The three of you made your way outside where Benedict’s car was parked, and he lowered Liv slowly so she could get into the backseat and then opened the door for you. Before you went in though, he pulled you closer by the waist and placed a soft kiss to your lips, which you returned wholeheartedly, stroking his cheek and looking at him with such love that you thought you were going to burst.
It was funny, how you’d gone from complete strangers to this.
You'd met in a pretty normal setting, considering who he was and what he did for a living. It'd been a day in which the sun didn't shine and there was heavy rain pouring in heaves from the sky, and Benedict had been in desperate need for something hot to warm him up.
He'd stumbled upon a cafe in downtown London and had immediately gone inside, and it was like the universe had wanted you two to meet.
He'd gotten in line and ordered a jumbo sized hot cocoa and water, and had been revelling on the feeling of not being recognised when he'd felt something pull at his jeans.
Benedict had looked down and thought he'd been looking at an angel.
There had been a little girl looking at him with wide, glittering eyes, her mouth opened in awe as she continued to pull at his legs excitedly.
"Mama, look! It's Doctor!" she'd said with the sweetest voice, her words dragged as Benedict realised she had probably just learned how to speak. "It's my doctor!"
Benedict couldn't help but smile at that. He'd turned fully to her and bent his knees so his eyes were almost levelled with hers. He'd been about to say something when another voice caught his attention and he'd been compelled to look up.
"Darling, I'm not sure you can call him yours just yet," Benedict's eyes had focused on yours, and he'd been blown away once again. You were too beautiful to be true, "you have to introduce yourself first, remember?" You had asked with a supporting hand to the back of the little girl's neck, urging her forward the slightest bit. "Go on. Just like we rehearsed." Your eyes had met Benedict's, and he had to keep from gasping as you gave him a little wink. His breath had caught on his throat and he hadn't been able to do anything but look at you the same way the little girl was looking at him.
“Hello, Mr. Doctor. I’m Olivia, but mama calls me Liv,” she'd said extending a chubby hand towards him, and Benedict had almost laughed at how entirely cute she looked.
“Well, hello, Olivia,” he'd smiled, taking her hand in his and placing a kiss on her knuckles. “It's very nice to meet you,” Benedict had said while he stood up, “and your mother,” he'd added afterwards, watching as you placed a hand on Olivia’s shoulder and looked up at him.
You remembered having looked at him for a long time. You’d never met a celebrity before that, but the fact that he was famous had been the last thing that had crossed your mind. Instead, you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the fact that he looked even better in person, and that you could never have imagined that he’d be so kind and lovely to fans.
“What are you thinking about, love?” Benedict’s voice brought you back to reality. You looked out the window and realised that you weren’t very far from Greg and Laura’s house. You watched as Benedict took one of his hands off the wheel and placed it on your thigh comfortingly, and you didn’t hesitate before taking it into your own.
“Nothing… I was daydreaming a bit, I guess,” you said with a small smile, and then looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Are you nervous?” you asked, because Benedict had never met Liv’s grandparents before. Also because perhaps if he was nervous, then it would be okay for you to be nervous as well…
“Not really,” he said nonchalantly, briefly glancing your way before concentrating on the road. “Are you?” Benedict asked, and you could hear the worry in his voice.
You sighed quietly. “A little…” you admitted, and felt Benedict squeeze your hand reassuringly. You looked at the backseat through the rearview mirror and was relieved to see that Liv was paying attention to the cartoon she was watching on Benedict’s tablet, and that she wasn’t really listening to the conversation.
Benedict knew about your story with Liv’s father. Aaron Sanders was a good man, deep down you knew that. The only problem was that when Liv was born, he’d refused to recognise her as his child. Your relationship had started crumbling the night you’d told him about your pregnancy, and he’d left you and had refused to take a paternity test. He had never physically hurt you, but the pain he’d caused you and Liv when he’d denied her had been too great, and for that you thought you’d never be able to forgive him. His parents had been with you the whole time though, and you couldn’t be more grateful for that.
You arrived not long after. It was around midday in London, and the day was uncharacteristically bright. The three of you left the car, and you and Benedict both took one of Liv’s hands on your own as you approached the entrance of the house.
Greg and Laura’s house was big, but you could barely see it behind the trees and leaves that occupied the front yard. You reached the door and Liv rang the doorbell excitedly, bouncing on her feet while you waited.
It was Greg who opened the door. He was wearing jeans overalls similar to Liv’s, and when she saw him, she immediately let go of your hands and ran into his arms.
“Grandpa!” she exclaimed as he lifted her over his head and pretended to let go of her. Liv giggled in his arms as he hugged her and put her down.
“I've missed you, my little Olive,” he said endearingly, patting her back and pointing somewhere inside the house. “Go check on your grandma in the kitchen. She’s making those little cookies that you love,” Greg told her and you watched as Liv went running inside the house. When he looked back at you, there was a glint in his eyes as he opened his arms to hug you. “Ah, (Y/N)… You seem to grow more beautiful every day,” he said patting your head.
“Thank you, Greg. Happy anniversary,” you said when he released you, giving him the bottle of wine you’d brought and taking a step back, holding Benedict’s arm and smiling brightly as you looked up at him. “This is Benedict, my boyfriend,” you introduced him and Greg smiled knowingly, shaking Benedict’s hand firmly.
“I've heard a lot about you, lad,” he said as he allowed the both of you to come inside. “It's good to know someone’s taking good care of my girls,” Greg closed the door and Benedict eyed you with a smile. “I hope you like tuna sandwich. Laura's made buckets of it,” he laughed and led you to the kitchen.
There was a woman holding a tray full of chocolate chip cookies, and by the looks of it, it had just left the oven. Liv had her little hands placed on the counter, watching in awe as her grandmother placed all of the cookies in a jar and left it to the side to cool.
“(Y/N), darling, it’s been so long!” Laura finally noticed you, cleaning her hands in a towel by the sink and coming to hug you.
“Nonsense, Laura. We saw her last week!” Greg said, sticking his hand into the pot of cookies to take one for himself.
Laura slapped his hand away from it with a roll of her eyes. “Oh, hush, Gregory. And stop eating the food, or else there won’t be anything left for the guests!” she reprimanded, sending him away with her hands.
Greg only laughed and crushed his wife’s face to his lips, kissing her cheek soundly. “Come join me later at the grill, Benedict. I’ll teach you my trick to make the perfect burger,” he said and then left the kitchen, Liv trailing after her grandfather and out of your view.
Laura shook her head, and when she looked back at you her eyes focused on Benedict’s tall frame and she smiled brightly, clapping her hands together in excitement. “And of course, you must be Benedict!” she took his hand into her both. “He's so handsome, (Y/N),” she winked at you, making you turn a bright shade of red. “Even more so than on-screen,” she said, and this time it was Benedict who blushed, chuckling lightly. “Now you two go seat outside. I wouldn’t want any of you to be stuck here with me while the day is so beautiful.”
You did as she asked, congratulating her for her anniversary first and then taking Benedict by the hand towards the backyard. It was smaller than the house, but still bigger than most. There were several trees at the back of it, and the pool was located a bit closer to the house. Laura and Greg had set a few tables on the grass, and there were people sitting on one of them. They were mostly cousins and friends of Greg and Laura’s, and you greeted them all before sitting on one table along with Benedict.
It didn’t take long for Liv to find you again. “Mommy, can I go into the pool?” she asked, and you looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Not yet, darling. Can't you wait a bit longer? I promise I’ll go with you in a little while,” you answered, and she groaned audibly.
“Please, please, please… I can go alone!” she insisted, but you still shook your head.
“You can’t, Liv. You don’t know how to swim—“ you started to say, but was interrupted by a shadow looming over you.
“I can look after her,” a voice spoke from above you, and you felt your insides grow cold.
You looked up to find Aaron himself staring at you with a weird expression on his face. You felt Benedict’s grip on your hand tighten at the sight of him, and tried to reassure him that everything would be alright with a small smile.
“Aaron,” you said in surprise, sitting straighter on your chair. “Are you sure you want to?” you asked, because you didn’t know if you trusted him enough to take care of Liv, and because he’d already neglected her before, and you certainly didn’t want him to hurt her.
“Of course,” he answered nonchalantly, looking relaxed and at ease with one hand tucked loosely into the pocket of his jeans and the other leaning on his hip. “I'm great with kids,” he said as a matter of fact and you raised an eyebrow, but gave in. You didn’t want to cause a scene, and you didn’t think he’d do anything to hurt your daughter.
With a sigh and a sideways glance towards Benedict, you finally nodded. “Okay… But let me know if you need any help,” you said and he smirked in a way that you were so used to, and that made your stomach turn— and definitely not in a good way.
Once Liv went inside to change clothes and Aaron left your side, you finally allowed yourself to relax, releasing a breath that you didn’t even realise you’d been holding.
“You okay, love?” Benedict asked beside you, taking your hand in his and rubbing a comforting pattern along your skin. You just nodded, though you weren’t really sure if you were actually fine. “Sure you don’t want me to watch her?” he asked worriedly, and you finally looked up at him.
“No, it’s alright. I want you to enjoy yourself,” you smiled, lifting a hand to touch his cheek. “Perhaps you can bond a little with Greg? I’m sure he’s dying to show you how to flip the meat on the grill,” you said and Benedict laughed, pulling you closer to press his lips to your head. Then he pushed his chair back and stood up, but didn’t leave before kissing your knuckles once more.
“I’ll keep an eye on her from afar,” he assured you and then left to join Greg, who was thrilled to see someone was interested in learning his cooking techniques. You smiled at the sight of them, and decided you’d help Laura in the kitchen to keep her company.
You waited until Liv joined Aaron by the pool and you were sure he was taking good care of her before you got up and went back inside. Laura was stirring something in a big pot when you found her, and you were happy to help her prepare the rest of the meals.
Outside, Benedict was laughing along with Greg when he heard a cough. His eyes immediately went towards the pool, and he started feeling the despair crush his lungs when he couldn’t see Liv or Aaron by the pool.
He left Greg’s side without a word and went to look for Olivia. His eyes caught a glimpse of her hair on the water, and he realised she was stuck underneath a big, colourful float in the pool.
Benedict suddenly couldn’t think of anything but to get her out, so he desperately grabbed the float and threw it aside, and his arms lifted Liv’s body out of the water with difficulty. She’d gotten to the deeper side of the pool unnoticed, and he was relieved to hear she was still breathing when he pulled her into his arms.
Liv coughed hard into his shirt and he just tapped her back as he held her loosely so she could breathe. “It's okay, love. You’re okay,” Benedict soothed her as she started crying. He looked around to see that Greg was rushing toward them worriedly, his hands finding Liv’s hair and running through it in an attempt to calm her down. What caught Benedict’s attention wasn’t Liv’s grandfather though, but the fact that Aaron was coming their way with a glass of cold beer on his hand and an alarmed look on his face. Their gazes met and Benedict was sure Aaron could see the burning anger in his eyes. He was about to shout at him when something else caught his attention.
You came running from inside the house, approaching them quickly and looking at the scene in front of you with worry. Benedict’s clothes were drenched in water as he held a coughing and crying Liv protectively, and when you finally reached them, you took your daughter’s face in your hands to see if she was alright.
“What happened?” you asked once you realised she was fine; just scared. “You were supposed to be looking after her, Aaron!” you yelled at him without sparing him a glance.
“I was just filling my glass!” he tried to defend himself, but one look from you was enough to make him shut up.
You went to the table you’d been sitting at and searched your bag for Liv’s towel, covering her - who was still on Benedict’s arms - once you’d found it. The two of you took her inside to change her clothes, and once she was dressed and dry, it was as if nothing had happened. She was grinning and happy again, and rushed down the stairs to be with her grandmother.
You sighed irritably once she’d left. “I should never have accepted Greg and Laura's invitation,” you said, furiously tucking Olivia’s wet clothes into a plastic bag. “I knew seeing him again would be a bad idea… He- Liv doesn’t even know he’s her father!” you ranted. “God, I’m just so stupid—“
You were interrupted by Benedict’s arms encircling your waist. His shirt was wet against your back, but you paid it no mind as he held your wrists to still your movements. You sighed and allowed him to turn you around to look at him. Your hands fell to your sides as he lifted his to take the hair from your eyes, tucking the loose strands behind your ears affectionately.
“You’re not stupid, (Y/N),” he said, moving his fingers to cup your cheeks. “You're the most intelligent, and amazing, and beautiful woman I’ve ever met, and that’s why I fell in love with you in the first place,” he said, making you smile slightly. “This wasn’t your fault, love.” His words were spoken in a way that left no space for discussion, so you only nodded. “Now, Liv is fine and there’s a delicious burger waiting for you downstairs… “ he let his hands fall to the sides of your neck. “Please don’t let this ruin your day,” he asked and didn’t allow you to answer because his lips were suddenly touching yours, and you couldn’t think of anything else other than the feel of his mouth on yours.
When you finally parted you were feeling slightly dizzy, but you couldn’t help the smile that grew on your lips. “I'm sorry you got all wet,” you said running a hand down his shirt.
“It's quite alright, love,” he replied with a smile. “Now let’s get down there so I can show you all the amazing stuff Greg’s taught me.”
The rest of the day went by in a blur. Laura’s food was delicious and you and Benedict had loads of fun with Liv.
Aaron didn’t reappear until you were leaving. You were at the door holding Liv’s hand when Benedict emerged from the kitchen being followed by a frightened and pale-looking Aaron. You eyed the both of them suspiciously, but didn’t say anything until you were lying on your bed with Benedict and Liv had already retreated to her room.
“So, what is it that you said to Aaron back there when we were leaving?” you asked curiously, lifting your head from Benedict’s chest to look him in the eyes.
He chuckled; his chest vibrating under your fingers. “Oh, not much…” he replied nonchalantly, one of his hands coming to hold yours over his chest while the other caressed your face. “Just enough to put him in his place…"

Requested by anonymous: Benedict x reader. The reader is acting on Kingsman. Benedict didn’t know how much of a badass she could be. But she’s a good guy in the film
Word count: 2247 Warnings: mentions of violence and implied smut
Filming had always been a tiresome task in Benedict's opinion.
Spending hours doing the same scene over and over again wasn't something he particularly looked forward to doing, especially not when said scene required a fair amount of emotional involvement from his part.
That day hadn't been much different.
Benedict had already been released from work after a particularly tiresome day at the set of Sherlock, and had been relieved when the producers had sent him home.
He'd been anticipating the nice warm shower he would be taking once he arrived when you'd called him.
Your ride back home had cancelled with you, and you'd asked him to go pick you up at the set of the new Kingsman movie, which you were staring in as one of the lead roles.
Benedict had obviously been glad to be able to spend some time with you, even if just during the short car ride from the set to your apartment. You'd been dating for four months now, and he was having the best time of his life with you.
He was pretty tired that day though, so Benedict arrived to pick you up with his hand covering his mouth, trying to keep from yawning too much.
He was standing directly behind the camera along with the cameraman and the director, still clad in the clothes he'd been wearing that same morning and longing to just go back home and into the comfort of his bed.
You were filming the last scene of the day; one in which your character had been held captive and was trying to escape the place she was being kept prisoner at while also hoping to gather some intel on the bad guys, and she had a gun in her hand as she searched for the enemies.
It was already nighttime, and Benedict shivered under the cold breeze coming from the river. You were in the Port of London since the scene was supposed to be filmed somewhere with water and lots of containers, and he couldn't understand how you were pulling it off with just a tank top covering your torso. Your character had supposedly just escaped from danger, and you were wearing black jeans and boots; your bare arms and neck covered with fake blood.
You didn't seem to be feeling the cold at all and Benedict smiled, watching from a few feet away as you joined your hands in a heart shape and looked at him with a grin as if to say 'thank you for coming'.
He was only able to smile in return, because the director was already ordering the stunt doubles around in order to film the scene. He yelled 'action', and Benedict watched as you went from grinning and waving to frowning and concentrated. It was the most amazing thing to see you get in character, your whole essence slipping away and leaving only the tough and broken aura of your character.
You pulled a gun from the holster strapped to your belt - a silencer attached to the tip of it - holding it down with both your hands as you roamed the area in between two containers. Your face was of pure determination as you rounded one of them carefully and pointed the gun ahead of you, in case there were any enemies lurking nearby.
When your character noticed the area was clear, she lowered the gun again and proceeded forwards in careful steps; the camera following you all along.
"Cut!" the director yelled, "that was great, (Y/N)," he said and then walked into the scenery to say something to you that Benedict couldn't understand. You were nodding all along, and seemed excited to what was coming next. "Okay, folks, let's take a five minute break while the doubles get ready!" he said and you came strolling towards Benedict happily.
"Hello, handsome," you said as a greeting, and Benedict made to come and hug you, but you pointed at the fake blood in your arms with a raised eyebrow and he decided against it.
"Hi, love," he smiled and instead held your chin between his fingers, leaning in for a quick kiss.
"Thanks for coming," you said running your hands through his arms affectionately. "I'm sorry, you must be tired," you acknowledged, and he just shrugged nonchalantly.
“There's nothing I wouldn't do for you, though," Benedict smiled, and you were about to kiss him again when the stunt doubles started gathering in front of the camera for the next scene.
"Ugh, I got to go... it won't be long, I promise!” you said apologetically to which Benedict only nodded, afraid that if he opened his mouth he wouldn't be able to keep from yawning.
You went back into the set and pulled out your gun once more. The stunt doubles were already in place around one container, and you walked towards the spot the director had instructed you to stand on, taking a menacing stance with the gun pointed ahead of you and a sharp look to your eyes.
Benedict didn't really know what to expect when the director yelled action again, but to say that what happened surprised him beyond imagination would be an understatement.
You walked forwards again with caution, and then you suddenly stopped in your tracks.
There was a man coming from behind you and he was approaching you silently, holding a machine gun in his hands. Your character was supposed to sense the danger, and when he was close enough to you, Benedict felt his mouth open in awe as you swung your leg backwards in a swift motion, supposedly hitting the man's head harshly and making him tumble to the flor with a painful groan.
You regained your composure just in time to see three other stunts men coming your way, two of them holding big knives and the last one sporting a gun similar to that of the first one.
There wasn't any time for Benedict to think about what you were going to do, because in the next moment you were raising your fake gun and pulling the trigger. The shot was supposed to be quiet because of the silencer, but there was a quick flash at the barrel of the gun that simulated that of the real thing, and then the third double - the one with the gun - was down on the floor, the blood bag attached to the back of his head popping midways and making the red liquid splatter everywhere.
Then, the other two men remaining came towards you, and the director yelled cut again. There was only time for the cameraman to position the second camera in an angle behind you before the scene started being recorded again, and Benedict suddenly felt all the sleepiness rush out of him, leaving in its place a hot feeling on his cheeks.
He watched as the two men swung their knives at you, and you dodged them with ease, taking one of them by the wrist and twisting his hand; making him scream. The other one came at you again, but you only pressed your foot to his knee harshly, which caused him to fall to the floor with a groan.
The man that was still standing tried to stab you once more, but his movement was slightly wavering, which allowed you to take the knife from him and plunge it into his neck; the blood bag attached to it breaking and sending several droplets of fake blood flying into your face.
When you turned around to look at the last man, your eyes were positively frightening, and Benedict actually felt a sudden heat take over him and concentrate at the bottom of his belly.
You went towards the other stunt double - who was still on the floor, unable to get up because of the supposed pain on his legs - and pointed the gun at him. His face was one of terror as he looked up at you, covered in blood and standing much taller than him, and you crouched beside him with your elbows pressed to your thighs for support.
"Where is your boss?" You asked with the most menacing voice, and the man crawled backwards, shaking.
"P-please..." he stuttered, and you only scoffed, rolling your eyes and standing up again, taking two quick steps towards him and fisting his shirt to pull him closer.
You were leaning down in a way that your nose was almost touching his, and Benedict could see your features contort into a sneer as you opened your mouth to speak. "Where. The. Fuck. Is. He." You growled into his face, and the man let out a frightened whimper.
"He's gone!" he said quickly. "I just... he left earlier! I-I don't know where to..." he stopped to gulp, "please..." he added, and you let go of his shirt and pushed him away roughly, making him hit his head on the pavement harshly.
The man was disoriented for a few seconds, and you stood to your full height and looked down at him. The camera settled right beside the man on the floor, cutting him out of the picture and focusing on your face from below. You looked down as if you were looking at the man, and the last thing that was filmed before the director yelled cut was the frightening look on your face as you pulled the trigger.
Benedict honestly didn’t know wether the funny feeling inside him was due to the fact that he was proud of your or if it was because he was deeply aroused. Maybe a mixture of both…
As soon as it was over and you had finished cleaning yourself and getting rid of all the blood, you came strolling towards Benedict with a much softer expression. He was standing a few feet away from the scene and looked mesmerised by what he'd just watched. "So, what did you think?" you asked as you stopped beside him and squeezed the bottle of water you'd been holding to slightly wet your hair and rid you of the heat you'd been feeling, already holding all of your belongings and ready to leave. Benedict didn't answer, and you raised an eyebrow as you looked at him expectantly. "Ben...?" you asked again, and he finally looked you in the eye.
You didn't have time to do anything though, because a second later he was pulling you by the hand towards the exit, and you had to bid goodbye to the rest of the cast from over your shoulder.
The two of you walked through the parking lot in a hurry, and you looked to the back of Benedict's head confusedly as you finally reached his car.
"Ben, what the hell are you do-" you were interrupted by his lips as he pressed you against the side of the car and moved his hands to hold your face as close to his as possible.
You didn't even think of doing anything else but kissing him back, your question completely forgotten as you opened your mouth to welcome his tongue.
The two of you kissed hungrily and for longer than it was probably appropriate given the circumstances, and when Benedict finally pulled away to look at you, the both of you were flushed and out of breath, and you were having trouble remembering anything but the feel of his mouth against yours.
You looked at him expectantly, and he moved one of his hands to your neck and collarbone. "That," he pointed over his shoulder with his other hand to indicate the set, "was incredibly hot," he explained, and it took you a moment to understand that he meant your acting. When you finally did, your lips slowly stretched into a knowing smirk, and you raised an eyebrow, mirth shining on your eyes.
"Oh, was it, now?" You asked mischievously, and Benedict mimicked your expression. Yours fingers traced the tendons of his neck and stopped at the first two undone buttons of his shirt, and you looked up at him through your lashes. "Perhaps I can show you a few other scenes when we get to my place, then...?" you said huskily, and felt Benedict's muscles tense under your touch.
Benedict had never moved so fast in his life.
He was in the car in less than a few seconds, and you only laughed as you rounded the car and made a show of opening the door and fastening your seatbelt.
The ride to your apartment was filled with way too much sexual tension for your own good.
Benedict couldn't stop thinking about the scene you'd just filmed; couldn't stop imagining how he was going to throw you onto your bed and show you exactly what you'd done to him. He had a vague memory of being tired, but that had been before he'd seen you act all badass in those deliciously tight pants.
You weren't doing much better. Benedict's hands were on your thigh during the whole trip, and you couldn't control the need for friction between your legs; couldn't think of anything else but the both of you naked and panting, tangled on each other as you laid in your bed.
It seemed that the minutes had stretched into hours when you finally parked the car, and immediately after he turned off the engine, your hands were on his neck, and his chest, and his hair.
The two of you never made it past the garage.

[Part 2]
"Okay, everyone, have a good weekend! I'll see you on Monday!" the director screamed as soon as the scenes for the day were wrapped up.
Benedict was glad to finally be able to take off his costume, searching for his clothes inside his bag and rushing to the car as fast as he could.
He was in a bit of a hurry, to say the least.
The thing with being an actor was that he had basically no time whatsoever to do anything related to his personal life. There was always a press conference or a shooting for a scene somewhere far away from London, so it could often be too hard to maintain relationships of whatever nature.
Benedict had thrown all that to the wind when he'd met you.
There was just something about you that he knew no one else possessed; something that made him need you in a way that he'd never needed anyone else before, and the mere thought of being apart from you could be painful enough to become unbearable.
You'd been careful at first when he'd started dating you though, mainly because there was one factor in particular that you had to take into consideration.
That factor was that you were the mother of a five year old, and your fear of hurting her overcame any relationship.
Olivia was the most beautiful and wonderful little girl. Being raised by a single mother meant she didn't have any sort of a father figure around, and though you'd been in a few relationships after she was born, you'd always been very weary of her feelings towards the men you dated.
You trusted her tremendously, and when she didn't like one of your boyfriends, you didn't hesitate to end it right then and there.
With Benedict, the problem hadn't been that she disliked him at all - to say that Olivia adored him was definitely an understatement - but the fact that he was famous.
That had been the mais reason why you'd been so hesitant towards dating him.
He was kind and caring and probably the best person you'd ever met, but you were afraid that being with him would expose Olivia too much, so you had taken your time to really accept that, in fact, he was the only one for you.
When that had happened... well, it was safe to say that there were no other obstacles that could keep you apart.
Benedict smiled at the thought of you and Olivia as he turned on the engine of his car and drove towards his house.
That night would be the night of his big date with you, and nothing would get in the way of it. He'd been planning it for quite some time now; had rescheduled it several times because there always seemed to be something to keep you both from being able to go out together, but not that night.
Benedict was determined to make it work as he arrived home and went straight to the shower.
He'd booked you reservations at a quiet and reserved restaurant you both loved, and had bought a bouquet of light pink lilies to present to you before you both went out.
Benedict was feeling slightly nervous and definitely excited as he got out of the shower and put on the shirt and trousers combo he knew you liked. He threw on a jacket and was ready to leave when his phone started vibrating on his pocket, and he had to balance the flowers and his car keys in one hand in order to pick it up.
"Hey, love, I'm on my way," was the first thing he said as he opened the door to his car with his foot and placed the bouquet carefully on the passenger seat.
"Hey, Ben," he heard you speak from the other end of the line and frowned at the slightly concerned tone of your voice.
"Is everything okay?" Benedict asked, already sensing that there was something wrong by the way you weren't nearly as excited about the two of you going out as you'd been earlier in the day.
"It's Liv," you said, and Benedict felt his heart sink in his chest. Had something happened to your little girl? Because if it had then he honestly didn't know what he was going to do. "I've measured her temperature and she has a pretty high fever." There was a pause on the other end and he listened as you said something, your voice muffled slightly.
He was starting to get worried as well, a feeling of helplessness sinking into his chest as he stood with half his body in and the other half out of his car. He waited patiently for you to return, and when you did, your voice was slightly calmer and softer. "Sorry about that," you said quickly. "I'm so sorry, Ben. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it tonight."
"No, don't worry about that," Benedict reassured you. Olivia was much more important than any plans you'd made for the night. "Do you need anything?" He asked, and heard you sigh on the other end.
"No, it's okay," you said sounding tired and drained. "I'm going to put on some movies and stay with her until she falls asleep. I've already given her something for her fever, so hopefully she'll be better in the morning..."
Benedict frowned slightly in concern and finally sat down on the driver's seat. "You sure you don't want me to come over?"
"There's no need to. I don't want to bother you with that..." Benedict opened his mouth to disagree, but you spoke before he could, "besides, I think her temperature's already going back to normal, so she's probably going to get better soon."
Benedict sighed in defeat. "Okay..." he said, and he heard you let out a little laugh on the other line.
"Thank you, Ben..." you said after a while in which the two of you just remained silent. "I love you," you said, making Benedict smile slightly because he knew you were smiling as well.
"I love you too," he said quietly, and after bidding each other goodnight, the both of you hung up.
Benedict stayed inside his car for a while. He placed his hands on his lap, still holding his cellphone, and looked somewhere beyond the open door of the driver's seat.
Minutes passed, and he was about to leave the car when he turned his head to the other side and his eyes caught the faded pink petals of the lilies on the passenger seat.
Something seemed to click on his head then, and Benedict didn't even register putting his leg back inside his car, closing the door beside him and turning on the engine.
...
You kissed Olivia's forehead tenderly as you pulled the fluffy blanket to cover her chest.
It was only eight thirty in the evening, but she'd been so tired that she'd fallen asleep during the first minutes of the movie you'd been watching.
You'd decided to let Olivia sleep in the living room instead of her own bed. It would be easier to take care of her and the kitchen was closer to it, so you'd prepared a cozy bed of covers and pillows on the couch for the both of you to sleep in.
The room was dark except for the faint light of the lamp beside the couch and the bluish brightness of the TV, and you looked towards the see-through curtains that were fluttering because of the breeze coming from the windows.
The night was colder than you'd expected, so you pulled a warm robe over your nightgown to keep from shaking. You knew it would probably be best if you closed the windows because of Olivia, so you moved towards them and began to pull them down.
Before you could close all of them though, you saw the strong shine of a car's front lights approaching your driveway, and you frowned confusedly at the familiar car parking right in front of your house.
You finished closing all the windows and then moved towards the door, unlocking it and swinging it open to see Benedict walking towards you holding something in his hands.
You hadn't known he was coming - hadn't wanted to disturb him either - but seeing him coming your way was enough to make a smile spread on your lips.
When he finally reached where you were, you didn't say anything, just threw your arms around him, standing in your tiptoes because of the height difference.
His arms were warm and cozy around you, and you smiled as you felt him nuzzle your neck and then place a kiss where his nose had touched. "You didn't have to come!" you said even though you didn't really mean it. You felt him smile against your skin, and shivered as his lips brushed your neck when he talked, his breath hot.
"Of course I did, love," Benedict raised his head to look at you, and you smiled as you pulled his head down to kiss him. His mouth was soft against yours, and you allowed yourself to breathe in the scent of him, not really deepening the kiss but nibbling on his lips softly. "I brought you something, by the way," he mumbled as he pulled one of his hands from your back to reveal the bouquet of flowers.
Your smile only grew as you took them and looked at him through your lashes, smelling the lilies and running your free hand through his arm that was still holding you by the waist. "Thank you," you kissed him again, and the both of you finally came into the house.
You closed the door behind the two of you and went to the kitchen to put the flowers into some water while Benedict approached the sleeping little girl in the living room.
The princess movie you'd been watching had already ended, and the music from the DVD's main menu was playing on repeat as he took his shoes off and sat on the couch right beside Olivia.
She seemed to be barely awake, but her eyes still opened the slightest bit and she looked at him sleepily. "Benny?" Olivia murmured and Benedict smiled at her nickname for him.
"Hello, Livie," he said, running a hand through her hair affectionately. "How are you feeling, love?" He asked and watched as she scooted closer to him, placing her head between his leg and the couch and rubbing her face against them.
"Tired," was all she said before she finally found a comfortable position - with a hand over his bent knee and her head touching the side of his thigh.
You were looking at the both of them from the kitchen isle, and couldn't contain the huge grin that spread on your face. Your heart was leaping happily in your chest at the sight of your daughter and Benedict's interaction, and you felt like the luckiest woman in the world to be able to have him in your life.
Once you were sure the flowers wouldn't die from dehydration, you approached Benedict on the couch, sitting beside him and opposite to where Olivia was laying and clinging to him as well.
He wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer to his side, and you sat with your knees close to your chest as you leaned against him.
"Thanks for coming," you said silently, your eyes focused on the image of dancing princes and princesses on the TV. "And I'm sorry we couldn't go out on our date," you finally looked up at him, but closed your eyes when he leaned in to kiss your forehead.
Benedict kept his lips glued to your head as he spoke next. "Don't worry about it, love," he kissed you again, this time on your left temple. "I'd rather spend the whole night here watching, uh...-" he looked quickly at the TV, "-Well, whatever the hell that is, than not seeing you at all." He smiled brightly and you laughed a little, lifting your hand to poke the dimple on his left cheek. He looked too adorable when he smiled like that...
"Well, as much as I'd love to watch Liv's princess movies with you, what do you say we binge on Mad Men?" you asked with a smirk in place, because you knew he wouldn't refuse it.
Benedict just eyed you silently for a few moments with a raised eyebrow, but then shook his head and scoffed with a roll of his eyes. "God, you know me so well," he murmured dramatically and you took that as a yes as you got up briefly to turn on the series.
You came back to nestle yourself against him, shooting a brief look towards Olivia to see if she was alright. She looked fine and in a deep sleep, so you turned back to the TV and pressed play.
Two episodes later, Benedict looked down to see that both you and Olivia were sleeping soundly against him, and he couldn't help but smile as he moved his arms as carefully as he could in order to get the remote and turn off the TV.
He sighed in content.
Many people would consider him lucky to have become successful in the acting industry, and though Benedict had never really been attached to fame or money; sitting there, looking at you and your beautiful daughter, he couldn't help but think that- yeah... he was in fact pretty damn lucky.

Shattered - Benedict x reader
A/N: Okay, but may I just say how frustrated I am that I lost like most of the original ending to this story?? I kid you not, it was 2 in the bloody morning here in Brazil and I was almost pulling my hair out... Nonetheless, I managed to rewrite it! Hope you all enjoy it, and let me know what you think!
Requested by anon: Would you write anything to do with past abuse. If so could you write another Benedict story. The reader was in an abusive relationship before she was with Benedict. While she’s filming bond. Playing 009 (I just made up the character) Benedict is watching some of the filming when her abusive ex is one of the extras on set
Word count: 1774 Warnings: mentions of physical and psychological abuse
The theater was cold when the lights went off.
Benedict was sitting next to you on the front row, a few other cast mates of yours beside you as well.
The audience was packed with celebrities and well known figures in Hollywood, all excited to finally be seeing the first ever screening of the latest Bond movie.
You were somewhat anxious, and for various reasons.
For one, you were one of the main characters in the movie, so you had plenty of screen time. And then there was that other matter, the one that perhaps bothered you the most...
You felt Benedict squeeze your hand excitedly, and tried to smile as brightly as you could despite the way you were feeling. Your palm was clammy against his but he didn't seem to notice it as he watched with eagerness the first few minutes of the movie.
It was an amazing movie, you knew it was, but there was a specific scene in which your acting had been too close to reality.
You remembered the day of the filming.
It was a particularly intense scene; one in which your character had been kidnapped by the bad guys, and the information had to be tortured out of her.
The scene was set in a small, dark room with no windows and a poor excuse for a bed set on the floor near you. You'd been tied up to the ceiling above you with chains that bound your wrists together above your head, and your makeup had been made to give you a sick, pale appearance. Your character had a huge gash in her forehead and her clothes were dirty and ripped.
There had been no need for you to film more than once. As soon as the director had yelled 'cut', the room had been filled with clapping. The chains that had been holding you were loosened and the producers had pulled you aside to congratulate you on your performance.
'That was amazing!', they'd said, but you hadn't smiled. Instead you'd only nodded and rushed towards your dressing room, only allowing yourself to break when you were alone.
Now the movie was going on, but you couldn't pay attention to it. Your mind kept going back to the day of the filming, and you kept anticipating Benedict's reaction to the scene.
When it finally arrived, he felt your body tense. Benedict had noticed something was wrong ever since you'd arrived at the premiere. You'd been quiet the whole time and your eyes had roamed the red carpet with fear, and he was starting to worry.
There was a scream on the screen, and he watched as the camera approached the torture room your character was in. You were dangling from the ceiling in an uncomfortable position, and then the camera cut to film the back of the other occupants of the room. There were three men with menacing figures, and your character clenched her teeth as one of them hit her hard on the face.
And then your character lifted her head and Benedict felt you flinch beside him. The camera pointed quickly to the faces of the three men and then suddenly, your features on the screen were of complete horror.
Your character flinched away from the three men, and Benedict frowned as he felt your hand in real life tighten its grip on his arm.
He looked up at the screen and couldn't help but think that your character's reaction had felt perhaps a little bit too real.
The movie went on normally, but Benedict couldn't say he paid any attention to it. His thoughts kept coming back to the torture scene.
He definitely was used to the acting industry and the methods it used to make the acting seem legit. There were plenty of camera angles that could capture the perfect shot and make it seem like a character was really being hurt, and many ways for actors to simulate normally impossible situations, but if there was one thing that the directors and film editors couldn't create was one's ability to lie. And you were definitely not lying on that scene...
When the credits finally rolled on the screen, the audience beside you started clapping excitedly, and you were called to the front of the screen to take a last picture with your cast mates inside the theater.
You parted from Benedict despite your wishes to just sit beside him and stay nestled in his arms. Your picture was taken, and after another round of applause, you were escorted outside for the cocktail party.
Benedict found his way to you after a while, and you sighed in relief when he asked if he could borrow you from the people congratulating you for a moment, stirring you away from them and towards him by the waist.
The look in his face was one of concern, and you merely looked at your feet for a few moments before glancing back at him through your eyelashes, brows furrowed together on your forehead. He smiled tightly at you, but placed a warm hand at the small of your back and rubbed his thumb over the fabric of your dress comfortingly, in a gesture that said both 'it's okay' as well as 'we'll discuss this later'.
You only had time to nod before someone stopped in front of you two though, making both you and Benedict look away from each other and at the figure standing next to you.
The brown eyes staring back at you were enough to make the color vanish from your face. Your feet faltered, and the only thing that kept you upright were Benedict's hands holding you.
"Hello, (Y/N)," his cold, intense voice spoke with venom, and you felt all the air leave your lungs in a heap. If it wasn't for Benedict's support, you'd be in the ground already.
"Trent," you said, but your voice came out so little in comparison to his that it seemed like you hadn't said anything at all.
He smiled; that sickening, dark smile you'd learned to hate, and you wished you could just go home and sit on your couch drinking tea with milk and biscuits and never have to look at his face again.
The thought did little to comfort you.
"Mr. Cumberbatch," Trent said after a long moment, raising his glass of champagne and running a hand through his carefully stylised hair, looking you up and down with his brown eyes, making you flinch. "A pleasure to finally meet you," Trent said, finally sparing a glance at your boyfriend beside you. There was something disturbingly wolf-like in the way his lips stretched, his canines exposed as he smiled.
"Likewise, Mr...?" Benedict inquired, his voice distant and unfriendly. He was not liking the way that man was looking at you, much less how you were reacting to it.
"Trent. Trent Davis," he answered, offering his hand; an arrogant raise to his brow like he thought it was an outrage that he hadn't been recognized.
Benedict did not shake his hand.
"Nice work on the film, (Y/N)," Trent looked back at you, seemingly unfazed by Benedict's coldness. In fact, he seemed to be ignoring your boyfriend entirely, taking one step closer to you and smiling as he took another sip from his glass. "I never knew you could be so... intense," he commented, and there was a hint of an innuendo to his words that made you want to vomit.
You felt completely sick and uncomfortable under the scrutiny of his gaze, and you felt Benedict tighten his grip on the back of your dress.
"People change," you said, proud at the steadiness of your voice. He was too close for comfort, but you tried to stay as tall as you could despite the fear coiling inside your chest and making your hands sweaty and cold.
"Oh, but some really don't," Trent said infatuating the 't' at the end, speaking so lowly that his voice came out like an animalistic purr. He was looking at you like he could devour you, and you felt the familiar prickle on your nose and eyes that indicated you were about to tear up. You held it though; looked away from him and tried not to think of the horrible images resurfacing from the back of your brain. The ones you'd repressed for so long...
Benedict cleared his throat beside you and Trent finally seemed to acknowledge him. His hand was still on your back and he was still holding you closer to him in a firm but gentle grip, but there was a fire in his eyes that you'd never seen before. Benedict was furious; you could see by the way his mouth was pressed into a thin line and his breathing was slightly altered. Aside from that, he didn't let it show as he smiled at Trent; this small, meaningful smile that you'd never seen him give anyone in his life.
Then again, Benedict Cumberbatch didn't really get unsettled by many things.
"Well, Mr. Davis, it was a pleasure meeting you," Benedict said, which finally seemed to earn him a reaction. Trent's eyebrows twitched in surprise, and you noticed the way he took a half-step back before regaining his composure. You almost smiled. "I must say you did a great job in Bond! Your two minutes on-screen were definitely the highlights of the movie," he said sarcastically, smile still in place as Trent's own grin faltered. He looked a mixture of offended, taken aback and angry. "Now if you'll excuse us, I promised my girlfriend here a nice celebratory dinner. You know- for the Oscar nomination and the win at the SAG Awards last week," Benedict looked at you momentarily, seeing the thankful look on your face for a brief second before his eyes were back on Trent. The man in front of you had his face red with anger, and the vein on his neck looked about to pop. Benedict's smile only widened. "Have a good evening," he said with a nod, turning on his heels and leaving without another word. You followed beside him, still gripping his arm for support as the two of you exited the building and proceeded to the car to go back home.
Benedict was incredibly quiet on your way home. His hands held yours gently the whole while, but his eyes were distant as he looked out the window in deep thought. He was very tolerant as well; didn't corner you with questions or pressure you to answer them, just sat there beside you and rubbed at a spot on your hand softly.
When you finally arrived home, he allowed you some space so you could clean yourself, and you chose to take a bath. You were feeling dirty and disgusting despite the fact that your skin was clear and your hair perfectly stylised.
You got into the water and watched as your skin became red from the heat, not really bothered by the pain that came with it. You just sat in the bathtub with your knees drawn to your chest and observed the reaction that the scalding water had on your skin.
The images of years back were coming to haunt you again. They were only flashes; glimpses of fingers forcefully pulling your hair and rough hands wrapping around your throat. The memories were brief and unclear, but you could almost feel the sensation of being choked; could practically feel the air being cut out of your lungs by hands more powerful than yours, and you lifted your fingers to touch your neck desperately.
You heard your sob before you felt the tears coming. Your eyes were watering; the world became blurry and you tried to inhale and exhale, but your chest didn't seem to rise or fall.
You were choking on your own memories, and you opened your mouth to try to breathe, but ended up only coughing.
The door to the bathroom opened with a hard thud that echoed against the walls and helped bring you back to reality. Your eyes focused on Benedict's tall frame on the doorway, and before you knew it he was running towards you and helping you sit down straighter on the tub, his expensive dress shirt now drenched in water.
You felt more tears swell on your eyes, and Benedict placed his hands on your bare shoulders, the worry etched across his face and making him look more fragile than he ever had. "(Y/N), what happened?" his voice faltered, and you could see the panic in his green irises. "What is it, love?" he asked running a hand over your wet hair and face, frowning when you couldn't stop crying.
"I'm sorry," you said in between sobs, and felt his hands shake as he cupped your cheeks and examined your naked body for any injuries. "I don't know why this is happening," you said incoherently, "he wasn't supposed to be there tonight," you cried even harder at the mention of him, and your shaky fingers went to hold Benedict's against your face. "I'm sorry," you whispered again, and felt his hands leave your cheeks.
Benedict took off his shoes and socks but didn't bother to remove his clothes as he stepped into the bathtub with you. You allowed him to position himself behind you, and tried not to flinch as he touched your neck momentarily to pull you closer to him. His hands seemed warmer than the water as he cradled you in his arms, and you clung to him like your life depended on it.
At that moment, it did.
You spent several moments in silence. You weren't sure how much time had passed; just knew that your fingers were wrinkled and the water was getting lukewarm against your naked body. You'd stopped crying, but your eyes were still puffed up and your face was still red when you spoke; almost inaudibly.
"He was my boyfriend," you said, and wasn't even sure Benedict had heard it until you felt his body stiffen behind you. His hands stopped the comforting motion on the skin of your belly for the briefest moment, and then you allowed yourself to go on. "I was fifteen when I met him, and he'd always been such a great guy..." you shuddered, and Benedict brought you closer into his warmth. "We started dating short after high school. He even came with me to New York when I had my first audition for a real role-" Benedict's chest was rising and falling in a steady rhythm, and it was helping you calm down if only a little, "-I loved him like I'd never loved anyone before, and we decided to move in together as soon as we came back to London."
You didn't have to look up to realize that Benedict was anxious. You could feel by the way his hands slightly tightened around you, and tried to offer him the slightest bit of comfort by brushing your fingers against his.
"Things were pretty great and all," you went on despite his silence. You just had to get it out of your chest; not because you owed it to him, but because you owed it to yourself, "but then he started getting violent," you finally admitted, and felt Benedict's hands ball into fists. "He didn't drink and he wasn't bipolar or any of that," you said very quietly, "he just...- he had a temper," your throat was dry, and you had to grit your teeth to keep from crying, "and he tended to take it out on me," your voice wavered, and you felt the tears blur your vision again.
Benedict drew in a shaky breath behind you, and you suspected he was about to cry as well. You were used to people's pity, but you knew what he was feeling was far from that. Benedict was shocked and angry. He was devastated and... outraged. He cared far too much about you, and he couldn't bare to even listen to the things you had gone through. It hurt him just to think about the things that man had done to you, and he couldn't imagine how much it had hurt you.
"It happened two or three times before I finally decided to do something about it." You remembered perfectly the day you'd realised that what he was doing was unacceptable; remembered the look of insanity in his eyes as you told him you wanted nothing to do with him anymore. "I pressed charges and the case went to trial, but by then I didn't have any evidence of what he'd done to me, so they let him walk free." You felt Benedict stir and looked up at him to see that he was indeed crying. His bluish-green eyes were blurred and his mouth was trembling slightly, and you gave him a tight smile as you felt your own tears run down your cheeks.
You turned to face him, kneeling on the tub between his legs and sighing as he lifted a hand to wipe away your tears. Benedict was sobbing as he pulled you towards him again and pressed a long kiss to your forehead. He held your head between his hands like it was something precious.
No one had ever touched you like that before. Like you were made of glass; something sacred and holy. He looked at you with so much respect and affection and... love, that you actually thought you might burst.
You smiled genuinely for the first time that night.
Because you'd been in great, great pain before Benedict had come into your life. You'd been mistreated and under appreciated; falling into a deeper state of depression each day. You'd thought love was something distant and completely out of the question for you.
It had taken you a long time to understand that people could only love you if you loved yourself. Your past was filled with sadness and sorrow, but you realised all of that was necessary in order for you to have this.
Benedict pulled you into a tight embrace, which you returned wholeheartedly. Your arms clung to his neck as he pulled you as close as possible, and the two of you stayed there until the water was cold and your tears were dry on your cheeks.
There was something warm growing on your heart though, and you looked up at him and thought for the first time that, hell, whatever fucked up shit you'd been through in the past... it had been so worth it.

The day had seemed like a normal one for Benedict when he woke up in the morning.
It had been bright and busy like any other day of the week; with London's usual partially cloudy sky and streets that bursted with life. He'd gone to work and spent the day doing everything he usually did; repeated his same old routine and longed for a day in which he wouldn't have to do it all over again.
He would later learn to be careful what he wished for.
"Benedict," his manager had said through the phone with a light tone to his voice. Benedict had just left a script reading session for his latest project, and had been collecting his things when his phone rang. "Johnny had to call off the eight o'clock meeting- something came up at the studio, apparently," he'd explained quickly, "you have the night off."
Benedict had smiled. It was probably his first night off in months, and he had no idea when would be his next. He'd packed his things and left the building feeling like a winner.
He figured you'd be in for a lovely surprise. Maybe you could even open that old bottle of wine your parents had given the both of you for Christmas...
It wasn't until he was in his car - his hands gripping the steering wheel while he was stuck in traffic - that things started going south.
Benedict turned on the Bluetooth on his phone and waited for it to connect to the stereo. "Siri, call my wife," he said as soon as he heard the familiar beep that indicated there was a connection.
The phone rang five, six, seven times before it hit voicemail. "Hello, this is (Y/N) Cumberbatch. I'm not available at the moment, but please leave a message after the beep," your voice boomed through the speakers, and Benedict didn't wait before he pushed the call button on the steering wheel again. Still no response.
In front of him, the line of cars started moving, and he tried to tell himself everything was okay.
It was useless to keep worrying simply because you hadn't picked up the phone. Half of him reasoned that you were probably on the shower or listening to music in your studio. The other more anxious half of him insisted that there was something wrong, though.
Benedict couldn't keep the cold shiver than ran through him and settled in the pit of his stomach as he pushed his feet into the gas pedal.
He thought that perhaps if he pretended to be calm the feeling would overcome the worry that had been growing inside him, but if anything, it seemed to intensify it. He approached his driveway with a dreadful feeling on his stomach, one that was confirmed when he saw the blink of police lights.
Benedict's heart nearly dropped on his chest.
There was cold sweat dripping down the nape of his neck and his hands were trembling when he stopped the car a few feet away from his house, the police cars occupying the whole width of the street.
Benedict exited the car and didn't even bother to close the driver's door behind him as he stumbled toward the scene unraveling in front of him. His hands pushed past the curious bodies of his neighbours and his eyes roamed the faces around him for a glimpse at you.
He didn't have any more time to look around as a policeman stopped him in his tracks. "I'm sorry, sir, but I can't let you go through," he said calmly, and Benedict removed the hand that was holding him back forcefully.
"I-" he tried, but his voice came out like a rough grunt. "That's my house," he finally managed in a breathless whisper, and walked past the officer before he could do anything to stop him. Benedict stumbled through the gravel, unable to think straight or keep his hands from shaking and his shirt from becoming drenched in sweat.
He couldn't find you among the crowd of police officers and passers by, and he was starting to feel the overwhelming panic that came with it.
Benedict honestly didn't know what he would do without you.
Then he felt something stir between his legs and looked down to see Kit, your loyal basset hound, running in circles around him. Benedict remembered the day you'd given him that name. He had suggested something a little more historical, like Henry or Charles after England's greatest kings, but in the end the both of you'd stuck with the one you'd chosen.
Kit waggled his tale desperately, as if both excited to see his owner and worried at the whole situation. He jumped and barked and circled Benedict again, and he squatted next to the dog to pat him affectionately. "It's okay, boy, it's alright," he said in a calm tone that didn't reflect the way he was feeling inside. Benedict was perhaps even more desperate than his dog, but he didn't let it show as he caressed its fluffy fur. Kit, however, didn't calm down in the slightest, jumping around and refusing to stay still in the same place, and Benedict watched as it turned around and ran towards an ambulance parked in the front of the house.
He followed the dog with his eyes and felt his heart squeeze so painfully inside his chest that he thought he might be dying.
You were there, sitting on the steps that lead inside the ambulance - holding a blanket around your shoulders and with a bloody cut etched across your temple.
Benedict ran faster than he ever had in his entire life. His feet carried him and when he finally reached where you were, you were already standing up and coming to his encounter as well.
The both of you met halfway in a hug so desperate that it took the air out of both your lungs.
Benedict clung to your clothes and your hair and your back as he squeezed you against him in a desperate attempt to be closer to you. His heart was hammering almost painfully inside his ribs, and he squeezed you one last time before pulling back to look at you.
The cut on your forehead was still dripping with the slightest bit of blood, but most of it was already dry, and he suspected that it had already been cleaned.
"God, what happened, love?" he asked, unable to keep his voice from faltering at the end. His hands went to cup your face gently, and he ran his fingers through the edges of your bruises and drew a shaky breath. "Are you hurt anywhere else? You shouldn't be standing up. Come on, let me take you-"
"I'm fine, Ben. It's okay," you assured him, though your voice was rough and your throat dry. "I don't- there was a break in..." you answered, holding the blanket even closer to you as a reflex. "There were these two guys, and they locked me in the cupboard, and... and they had guns, and-"
"Shh," Benedict placed his hand on the good side of your face, pulling you closer into another embrace. His other hand ran through your back comfortably, and he felt your shoulders shake as you cried silently. "You don't have to tell me now. I'm going to call your sister to let her know we're coming over," he said as an afterthought, and you just nodded into his shirt, taking deep breaths to try and calm down.
You parted ways so Benedict could make the call, and you went back to the ambulance with Kit while he approached the police officers a few feet away.
"Could anyone explain to me what happened?" he asked, his voice demanding and deep. He was angry at anyone and everyone that allowed you to get hurt, which also meant himself.
"The burglars got in through the open balcony," one of the officers began. "Mrs. Cumberbatch was in the kitchen when they came. They took her by surprise," he said, and Benedict felt his teeth clench. "According to her, they took her to the cupboard and one of them stayed there with her while the other went to search the house," the man explained and Benedict had to keep from lashing out at anyone else. He balled his hands into fists and looked somewhere in the distance, breathing in and out in sharp heaves. "We caught one of the burglars, but the other one managed to escape before we arrived-"
Benedict didn't wait for him to finish, just nodded once and turned on his back. He considered paying the burglar a visit in one of the police cars he was being kept at, but decided against it. The press was starting to gather around the scene, and things were bound to get ugly if he did so. He went back to you instead.
You'd stopped crying already, and he sat beside you on the metal steps of the ambulance and put a comforting hand on your back. He didn't even care if anything was taken from the house. What mattered was that you were there and you were safe.
"I'm sorry, love," he murmured after a while, making you stop caressing Kit's head to look up at him. "I should have been home with you," Benedict lowered his head in defeat and you scoffed, lifting his head with a hand on his chin to meet his eyes.
"Stop that, Ben," you said with a tone of finality to your voice. "You had nothing to do with this. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine for letting the balcony open in the first place." You left no room for discussion, so Benedict just nodded. You could see the sadness in his eyes though, so you pulled him closer by the arm and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips, letting your mouth linger close to his afterwards and brushing your nose against his.
His hand moved from your back to your arm, and he rubbed it against it in an attempt to keep you warm. "I love you," he said with his cheek pressed to the top of your head, and you smiled slightly as you scooted as close to him as possible.
You resumed the caress on Kit's back, placing your other hand on Benedict's bent knee and rubbing your thumb over his jeans in an attempt to make him feel calmer. You felt him sigh beside you, and he pressed a kiss to the top of your head before the both of you allowed yourselves to finally relax.
"I love you too, Ben."
