Happy birthday Corporal Walter 'Smokey' Gordon, who would have turned 98 today! He was well known for his sneaky trick for the Purple hearts and of course, writing the poem 'Night of the Bayonet'. He was also shot through one side of his body and out the other during Bastogne and was paralysed, luckily recovering down the line. Rest easy Smokey!
