He stared down at the small rock that sat in the palm of his hand like it held the answers to the world. Wondering why luck or fate had chosen it for him. It looked like night, a blackness that verged on twilight and felt like the coolness of deep underground. Poseidon had pulled the stone for the oceans while Zeus had drawn the one designated for the Heavens and he, he had won the Underworld. It felt as if they had just emerged from the darkness and here he had won an eternity of it.

 None of the others seemed to care other than the fact that it didn’t fall to them…almost all the others at least. There had been one that had shared his feeling on his given domain, sweet Demeter, his favorite sister. She had been the only one to seek him out after he had secluded himself from the ‘celebrations’, the only one that knew how he felt. There had been words between them some sad, some angry, some more revealing than they had been intended. But the only part of the conversation he could remember ,or even cared too, were three words. They were something he had never expected from her and everything that he wanted. The perfect alternative to the situation though…
