“i never realized how large your room is. i mean, i’ve seen it from the outside, but it’s much different now that i’m standing here. it’s a lot of room to yourself.”

“yes. you’d think with this much room i’d have to share, but we all get rooms about this size.”

“that’s insane to me. my rooms were about a third the size of this. and not as ornate. nowhere close.”

“haha, i bet. it um.. it does tend to get lonely in here. and i get afraid of the dark and everything.”

“i could keep you company. i mean, if you’d like. to keep you, uhm, safe.”

“to keep me safe? i’m a noble, silly, there’s a million people keeping me safe. what if you just stay, now that we’re friends.”

“we are?”

“of course we are! why do you think i keep my window unlocked for you at night? i want you to stay with me. please.”

“well then, i will.”

“oh, i don’t believe i ever caught your name. what is it?”

“my name is belphegor.”

“beautiful. that’s a beautiful name. may i call you belphie?”

“oh, um, of course.”

“my family calls me by my full name, but it just feels wrong. there’s not much i can do, though. i wish there was a way to get away from them, to just leave it all behind, i guess.”

“i’ll call you orin. you can be yourself around me. you don’t have to worry about them. it can just be us.”
