[The landscape was flat, which was good since a thirteen-year-old car could only handle so much. The weather was cold. Winters were always cold in Nebraska, especially at night, and Stan cursed himself for not preparing better. He'd had the same ratty red jacket for years and here he was, burning up all his gas on keeping the heater going. And finding a place to park for the night. He hoped he'd find somewhere to stop for the night unnoticed, or at least that some business owner would be kind enough to let him use a spot in their parking lot, not that anyone would be stopping by during that time, given the late hour, and he'd likely be up with the sun as always.

Buildings. Stores - maybe he'd be able to get a pack of cigarettes from one - no one aro-] (<- bit taken as a starter from fefe.)

Scene:

Wait a damn second. Stan stopped and looked to his side again. There was a kid on the ground. In this nowhere place in Nebraska, at night, with not nearly enough to cover them from the cold.

Stan looked away, back to ahead where his car was parked. Not his problem, he thought to himself. He wasn’t that bigger when he'd been thrown out and he managed just fine; if he could do it then certainly someone from Nebraska won't have problems doing the same.

He took a few steps ahead. The nights had been cold. He'd been alone and scared and mad at everything and everyone. He'd been afraid nobody would care if he died, and ended up in bad companies seeking whatever sliver of importance they could give him.

But well, he was stupid. Someone with an average brain can do fine.

But... this was a girl. The world wasn’t good to men, but everyone knows what can happen to lone little girls in the dark.
