There's a couple of offworld colonies, Titan by far the largest. At the start of the whole Asher thing there was a big push to evacuate people... and then an Asher materialized inside a transport, not even on the dates of Aphelion, killing millions.

This led to a pretty big panic and shut down most of the plans to get people off world, but eventually it picked up again and people just sort of accept that there's a 50% chance that any transport is going to be utterly obliterated (not like Earth and the Moon are doing much better...). Transportation was transitioned to big tethers near earth and magnetic sails, because even if the sails are slower they're cheaper.

The time and expense of shipping stuff means that these colonies don't have a lot of support. There's one small hive on Titan, and they're not doing great.

The thing about the metal penguins with human brain copies? They're given an RTG and told to have fun for a few decades in the ocean. It's nice in some ways, but there just isn't enough resources for the sort of beautiful space cities some people imagined at first. And they will probably die without Earth support, so there is no good plan "B" for humanity.

Hive Noether isn't really better or worse but they are a bit less weird than most of the other hives. Millie would probably appear to be more "herself" than say, after joining Mandelbrot. This is partly due to just how Noether is (very chill), and partly due to Noether being on the smaller side.

Hive ADA has a reputation for being extremely trustworthy and very funny. They're still rather strange and flighty though.

A classical old-school processor from the 1990s or before isn't likely to have true parallel multitasking, but since then the number of cores has been expanding greatly. A decent computer these days has eight strong cores on its chip that work in parallel. And other parts are designed differently. The graphics card in a good gaming computer also has ten thousand weak cores all working in parallel just to do the graphics. Whatever the future computer design murderbot is using a thousand years hence, I doubt it's very restricted by things like that.
