Meet Bella Tipping: The 12-Year-Old Who Turned Travel Frustration into a Million-Dollar Startup
Bella Tipping, an Australian girl, is known as the World’s Youngest Entrepreneur. She was just 12 years old when she began transforming her holiday frustrations into a business: she noticed that hotels catered almost exclusively to adults, completely overlooking what kids want during family trips. Feeling that many places were too “grown-up and boring” for children, Bella decided to fix the problem.
Her solution was to launch Kidzcationz.com, a review website where children can rate and share their experiences of hotels, restaurants, and activities — specifically from the perspective of what is enjoyable for kids. To ensure safety online, Bella’s site uses kid-friendly avatars rather than real photos or personal data.
To turn her idea into reality, Bella also learned what it takes to run a startup. She drafted a formal business plan for her parents, detailing operations and including a fallback or exit plan should the venture fail to meet expectations. Impressed by her dedication and clarity, her parents invested AUD $80,000 to get Kidzcationz off the ground.
Through this process, Bella picked up many of the core skills entrepreneurs need: resilience, accepting criticism, marketing, negotiation, planning — all while still being just a kid. Her central message, that if you can think it, you can do it, emphasizes that age is not a barrier to innovation, as long as you’re committed and willing to work hard.
