the graduate // bella & evan
It had been a whirlwind ever since graduating. One party followed into another as the afternoons flowed into nights. Garden parties. Boozy brunches. Barbecues. Bashes.
It was a good time to be Evan.
His time in between festivities was spent catching up on sleep, playing croquet, lounging with friends, nursing hangovers, and writing thank-you notes for the many gifts he had received.
He’d stopped checking his diary, too, ever since getting home. This was a liminal period, one of the few official liminal stages of life. What need did he have for a schedule?
No, plans could wait for the ‘after’ period, whenever that came. He didn’t know. All he knew was that he was going to enjoy the liminality as long as it lasted.
The impromptu party the night before had morphed into drinking out in his back garden while watching the sunrise. He went to sleep, fully intending to stay asleep until dinner, but, unfortunately, his mother had other ideas. There was a gathering he was needed at. Joy.
Evan rose with a groan, his head now throbbing, showered, and made himself presentable. After saying hello, he jumped into the pool and settled onto a floatation device. Sunglasses on, he fell asleep.
