stellazegras_ how it started vs how it's going!

thankful to everyone who has been there since the beginning and a big thank you to rutgers. this program has helped me find myself again on the field and I could not be more grateful.

I love every single one of my teammates, we are sisters for life and I'm glad we get to bring the natty home to the banks.

to bella and avery, it sucks that in order for me to win, you guys had to lose. I wish the three of us could've gotten the chance to play together and compete for a natty together. maybe in some universe we are, but no matter what, you guys are my family and I love you guys.

to trevor, griff, and ava, thank you for all the support over the years. I wouldn't be on this stage if it wasn't for you.

to luke, this is for you. and everything you've done for me since we've met but more specifically the last two years. I love you more than anything and I wouldn't have been able to do this if it wasn't for you.

rutgers, we won a natty. it's been a ride, but the work isn't done. we gotta do it again. but WE JUST WON A NATTY!!!!!

so the women's college world series championsip series is a best of 3 matchup. it's michigan vs rutgers so i'm having rutgers win the first and umich winning the second game so the third game is winner take all.

so it's game 3, the final game of the year for both teams. stella is playing center field and batting 3 like normal for rutgers, and avery is batting 3rd and playing center field for umich with bella batting 4th and playing left field.

all of their friends are here. luke, ethan, and dylan obviously but also mark, fiona, mackie, and paige. luke is the only one in rutgers merch but he's got on umich shorts so he's cheering for both sides, but obviously stella first.

when stella gets up in the first inning, she hits a homerun. luke is cheering so loud for her and stella is smiling so big. late that inning, avery gets on with a bunt and bella then hits a homerun too which gets the rest of their group on their feet.

it's a back and forth scoring game. at the end of 7 innings, it's tied 5-5 game so it goes to extras. that's when the pitchers start controlling the game, there is no run scored for 6 innings after. in the 14th, stella hits a two run homerun but avery and bella hit back to back homeruns to tie it up 7-7 later than inning.

the next 3 inning are filled with runs, each team scoring one each to make it 10-10. in the 18th inning, there's a running on her third and stella slaps the ball over the short stops head to score the rnner and get to second, and her teammate follows with a double to make it 12-10. unfortunately this time, umich doesn't have an answer and fails to score resulting in rutgers winning it's first national championship.

stella got awarded the most outstanding player in oklahoma city and was interviewed at the end of the game and she's virtually in tears. she gets asked, "stella, you just won the first national championship for rutgers softball against your former team in the longest game in champ series history and was named most outstanding player. what are you feeling right now?"

"just grateful. i mean, it's been a long journey to get to this stage with this team but we got the job done and i could not be prouder of this team. it was definitely hard to play michigan because so many of ths girls are close friends of mine, some of them are my family so it's tough to see them so sad and having to beat them but it's a business. i wouldn't be here on this stage without michigan softball and i don't want that to be forgotten."

"you were responsible for 4 of the 12 runs scored today for the scarelet knights and saved about 5 runs on defense, and managed to stay so composed during all 18 innings. how did you manage to stay so collected and composed and what we perceived as relaxed during thi chaotic game?"

"just trusted the process. i mean we've all put our whole lives into this game and this sport for so many years for it to all come down to this one game so i just tried to trust the process."

"we saw the cheering section for you and two of the players on michigan. what does it mean to have them all here to watch this? and let's have it be noted, luke was wearing a rutgers shirt with umich shorts so your boyfriend was double dipping."

"i knew he would. i told him he had to wear the shirt. but it's great to have them here. i mean, i know ethan and dylan were rooting for michigan but i know they also wanted me to do well. we'e created our own little family during my umich days having the guys all playing together and now that we're going in our own directions, we're still incredibly close and there support is awesome."

"we'll let you go celebrate with your team but congratulaitons stella and we look forward to hopefully seeing you on this stage again."

"thank you."

stella smiles at the samera before running back to her teammates and hugging them. she puts the hat on her head and as soon as they let family down on the field, she runs into luke's arms. he holds her so tight and spins her around. she says in his ear, "we did it babe."

"i know baby. i'm so proud of you. i love you."

"i love you so much luke. thank you for everything." she says and kisses him. when luke puts her back on the ground, she goes over to bella and avery and hug them. she says, "i'm sorry it had to be this way. i wish we could've done this together."

"it's ok stella, it's the business. we have time, you know never know what will happen girl." bella says softly. avery smiles, "we're proud of you for this. you earned this, don't apologize for that."

the 3 girls smile and hug and their boyfriends and closest friends come over and join the hug. they take a picture of all 10 of them to remember the moment.

it's finally time to head back to the hotel to sleep becuase it was nearing 3 in the morning and they were all exhausted. stella was definitely way too tired for national championship sex that luke had promised. she took a quick shower and just curled into luke and fell asleep quickly, holding her man tight.

smile on her face after finally accomplishing her dream and having luke there to witness it.

although, she's ready to go home having been on the road for most of the post season being an unranked team.

michigan got placed in the austin regional in texas, texas getting the 6 seed.

tennessee is the 7 seed and will host their own regional in knoxville.

now irl, rutgers didn't get in. but for the au, rutgers is going to florida state who is the 5 seed. auburn will go to texas tech and washington will be out bc respectfully i hate washington.

so how this will work for my au's:

stella's world

bella and avery will be going to austin. ethan and dylan will be making their way at some point. (they win it and advance to play the winner of the clemson bracket)

taylor plays at home in tennessee. ryan won't be able to go unless the capitals get knocked out but will be watching every game. (they are going to win it, and will play the winner of the lsu bracket which i might have be nebraska for the au. that is undetermined so far.)

stella has to go to tallahassee to take on florida state and company. luke will be rearranging his rehab schedule to be able to go support stella and bring rusty with him. (they will upset florida state to win and advance to play the winner of the texas tech regional.)

eden's world

lauren will be in knoxville. her brohter aidan who is on the tennessee baseball will be at a bare minimum of one game. adam is unable to go to the first round of games because he's at world but depending on how canada does, he'll be able to go to the super regionals. (tennesse wins their bracket as expected.)

sophia is traveling to austin with the michigan softball team. luca will be there for every game cheering her on. (they upset texas and move on to super regionals against the winner of the clemson bracket.)

bella and avery were so excited and joined in on the dancing!!!!!!

and then tennessee is the number 7 national seed! taylor is jumping and screaming so excited! they have a tough bracket but taylor and the vols are up for the challenge!

so this means we’re gonna talk the au girls who play softball.

bella was so so so so proud of ethan for signing with devils. she's sad that his college career has ended but she's also proud and excited for the next chapter. even if she has another year of eligibility for softball and isn't sure where she's gonna go, she knows that it's a big step for her and ethan no matter where she ends up.
