Belila and Seaworld!

Originally, Seaworld came to Clan Aorai for training and to be sent to the Plaguebringer to serve her.  At the time, Clan Aorai was renowned for their training and quick turn around.  He wasn’t really ready to be exalted, but he didn’t know what else to do--all his children had been exalted and he himself was turned away at every other clan.  Too old, too bred, to ugly, too much work.  He figured the best thing he could do was to follow his children in service.

However, Belila had watched him sell an item of clothing for far more than it was worth to a passing dragon and offered him a choice (as she does from time to time):  Serve the deity or serve her.  At first Seaworld was skeptical; what would the matriarch herself want to do with him?  But eventually, he quit his training and stayed.  The two don’t interact much past that, tho she does reward him with the plumper insects when he makes a particularly shrewd sale, and she brought Marille into the clan to stave off his loneliness.

Belila and Maltomeal!

Belila is the absolute and uncontested matriarch of the clan who uses a variety of manipulation to force her way.  In this case, she brought Maltomeal in as a mate for Pancakes in order to keep her calm and complacent.  Maltomeal is also the clan’s metalworker and she will, from time to time, have him create jewelry or armor for the other dragons in the lair.

Since he is, for the most part, willing to comply with his queen’s (sometimes overbearing) commands, neither he nor his mate are infected with Belila’s miasma and only requires slight nudging to do as he’s told.  For the most part, he is thankful to Clan Aorai and thus the matriarch for not only giving him a place to stay, a consistent job, and the love of his life.  Because he’s well behaved, Belila granted him gilding around his belly and scales and allows him to nest close to her and Cynicism, elevating his place in the clan hierarchy.
