honestly the kardashian/jenners are just the ugliest most logical extension of this mentality, like distilled down to its most terrible essence

i hate to sound like an Old but social media feeds into a lot of this. i remember back in the day like WAY back in the day, anna wintour would have dropped dead before inviting some of the people that show up now (including kim’s klan)

God it literally is worse for them to be called homophobic than it is for them to actually be homophobic

they absolutely will do just fine when humans die off lol but that’s called going feral which is.. not something most pet owners consider ideal. regardless of criticisms about the modern world, the way things ARE (not the way things should be) if an animal is in your care and you let it loose outdoors, if something happens to it is your 100% your responsibility bc that could be avoided. when something is in your care “avoiding harm” is the bare minimum you can do for it.

Sis listen if my cat gets turned into jam by a 4x4 then yeah obvi keeping her inside would avoid that but she’d miss out on all the fun she has outside (She easily spends 6+hours a day outside)

But spoiler alert, whatever happens, your cat, like every other living thing, is going to die. Death is unavoidable. I am far less concerned about my cats death than I am her life.

We make sure she eats right, feel safe at home, has her own bed / safe zone, plenty of scratching posts. She’s happy. Like jfc it’s like having a kid right, yes your kid would be safer if you locked them up in their room for the entire life but they’d be miserable.

cats don’t have a concept of “meaningful” lives tho. I’m not saying never let ur cat go outside but.. we domesticated them and it’s our responsibility to protect them from potential dangers, which are statistically far higher when they go out

They straight up do though? Every animal has needs and requirements to be happy. It’s why zoos work so hard to create big open spaces full of things to play with for all their animals because keeping them in small and boring environments isn’t good for em.

And no shit it’s dangerous outside, by that logic we shouldn’t ever leave the house either. But if we did that our quality of life would suffer. We go outside because it enriches our lives, just like the outdoors enriches the life of a (healthy) cat.

And I would say that your responsibilitiy to your pets isn’t just to portect and prolong their lives, it’s to make sure those lives are “good” and the animals you keep can be... well animals
