Into month 6
Well, in the past week I realised that I am now into my 6th month of transition. I don’t really know where the time has gone to. So it’s nearly 6 months of estrogen and its a bit over a month since I had my first injection of anti androgen. This new change in my hormone levels and further reduction of testosterone brought on yet another phase of mood swings as I adjusted, now I’ve gotten used to this I have found that I am more emotional than previously, and easier triggered too. Still I feel so good in myself now I wouldn’t go back.
In the realm of physical changes, its all coming along pretty much as expected, though as yet not much is happening with my body hair other than a slight slowing of regrowth. I’ve now had 3 sessions of laser hair removal, with the 4th next weekend, it seems to be working well for me as there is a really noticeable reduction already. But by the goddess does it hurt.
With my drive to lose weight, I’ve begun going to the gym regularly, just over 2 weeks so far. I’m typically doing 4 to 5 sessions a week of at least an hour each. In this time I’ve lost a good 9 or 10lbs which I am really pleased with. So since I started all this I am down from just under 24 stone (336lbs) to 21st 1.2lb (295.5lbs). Last time I measured I’d gone from a 26/28 UK dress size to 24, and from a 22 UK Jean to 20.
I’ve never had much in the way of self esteem or confidence (you might say I had a complete deficit in those departments), but I am finding myself with growing confidence, it’s still not really up there but it is getting better. In January I returned to work as Lisa, and wearing what I like (as long as its with jeans or pants as I still have to cycle to work. So far everyone has been great and are making an effort to get the name right. As yet I’ve not had the confidence to wear makeup to work, partly because I don’t want to get all sweaty in my makeup from cycling, but also I’m still not a morning girl lol. I do have a close shave each morning though, need to put some effort in I guess. I look forward to my facial hair being gone so I can just go with a little lippy and mascara.
On my next trip to the salon I am debating getting a fringe cut to try and do something with my big forehead.
Time flies
Wow, time really flies, this time last year I had my first appointment at the gender identity clinic in London. It seems so far away now.
1 week on
Well, it’s been a week now on low dose HRT and already I’m impatient to get my dosage raised and start with blockers.
Can’t say i’ve noticed any physical changes as yet. Those effects I think i have noticed I don’t know if they are there or if I just want them to be there. I’ve noticed some effects to my mental state, my mood seems to be flip flopping more than usual.
I’ve also been using Vaniqa cream on my face, this does seem to be having the desired effect of slowing down the growth of facial hair while I wait on getting Laser happening. Seriously, how long do these things take to happen on the NHS?
