Slid under the door of D2 at the very end of the day is an old Emily Bronte poetry book. It looks old and weathered like it’s seen many, many hands. A note is pressed on top:

Happy Birthday Clussy,

Lost my phone so I couldn’t text. It’s not much, nor is it ready to be opened, but I didn’t have a lot of time. Open it over Summer break if you want.

Here’s to hoping someone got you a cake so you can wish yourself taller,

Left outside of Edwina & Raquel’s dorm bright and early Thursday morning is a modest bouquet of paper roses that appear to have been made up of various worksheets and the old, coffee-stained pages of Emily Dickinson’s poetry. Nestled within the bouquet is a small box that rattles when shaken and a note that reads:

Dear Clussy,

Sorry I can’t walk you to class today, I needed to do a make-up test this morning. Hang in there. The bunnies will be alright, I think I’m onto something.

P.S Now you don’t have to lie about being given a kiss.
