Preparing two beds for spring planting. The key ingredient here is time; raw organic materials (leaves and straw) will decompose over the next couple of months, feeding the earthworms, mites, beneficial nematodes, rhizobia, actinomycetes, mycorrhizae, and countless other soil organisms.
Add mineral amendments: dolomitic lime, rock phosphate, greensand, potash, then add composted manure/woodchip mix;
Rake to even out soil;
Add layer of leaves;
Add layer of straw;
Spread mulch (woodchips) to pathway between beds.
