i just own a replica of the Becktionary (i have never watched Futurama a day in my life)
also here's all the beck related things i own
#Bender of #Futurama fame has folk singer history with #Beck, but this #meme is better than a whole room of washboards.
Hahahaha the #becktionary #futurama
Morning Fuel: Beck - Dreams
Sometimes I feel like Beck is in my blood. When I first heard Odelay, it was a life-changing experiencing. The fact that he was a guest star on Futurama during its first incarnation and is still making music would be a miracle-fact on its own. But not only is he still making music, he's making GOOD music. Sure, there was the thing with him and Kanye at the Grammy's and the controversy over that, but here we have him again releasing a new single with a new single that sounds like someone took Midnight Vultures, mixed in some more spacey pop and actual lyrics that you can really follow (no Becktionary necessary to decode this album), and the man still has some tricks left over 20 years after telling us to kill him because he's a loser, baby. But less about the historical anomaly of his scraping-Bowie decades of making relevant music and more about this track. It has everything I would love in a good Beck track. The guitar work isn't anything fancy, but with the application of some neat stutter effects and classic rock levels of reverb it really powers the verses and melody forward. Then there's the trademark Beck keyboards, an organ riff that is as infectious as it is simple with fingers sliding over the keys haphazardly in a set of what sound like mistakes but turn into a line that is quite melodic. The bridge is a bit of a sudden derailment, but with how fast it reverts back to the track's resonant chorus. I look forward to hearing the album that will accompany this, whether it's telling us Beck has yet another new sound as many have speculated or whether it's the sign of an artist who is less and less about albums and concept sounds than he is being comfortable in his own skin and making complex but wonderful music.
