The Buisness of Sundance
One of the biggest misses, for me, was Bushwick. Bushwick was introduced in the Midnight section, directed by Cary Munion and Jonathon Millot. Going into the movies that I already knew a character or two in my hopes were relatively high. So knowing and enjoying Brittany Snow in other movies made me believe that I would probably enjoy this movie as well. That could not be any farther then how I actually felt about her in this particular movie. The subject matter of the south attempting to neutralize and take over had potential too if it were executed better. The unrealistic nature of the whole story made it hard to watch. Brittany Snow would not have made it past the first round of "soldiers" in any realistic scenario. Her character however did make it to the basement of a jacked ex marine named Stupe. With Stoops help her character, Lucy is able to out run and outwit a lot more soldiers. The entirety of the movie is scenes with rapid gun fire, explosions, and Stupe and Lucy running to try and find refuge. The dialogue is weak, and although you are hoping to see a happy ending, you really don't care because the character development is so shallow. Brittany Snow delivers a whiny performance that was so irritating I almost left the theatre. However I read today that RLJ entertainment group did acquire the movie, here's to hoping they did not pay too much because I can not imagine that this movie would do well in a theatre setting.
