fuckin Taylor and Victoria for the worm character thing
I already did Victoria, so I'll do Taylor!
ahhh, Taylor. Taylor Taylor Taylor. Where to start? As a character, Taylor's arc is so fascinating to me. She starts off wanting to do good, doing a lot of evil alongside that good and deeming it necessary, and at the end realizes that no, it wasn't necessary at all. Her journey is kind of a complete rebuttal of the idea of The Ends Justify The Means mentality, as she comes to regret basically her entire life by the end, wishing she hadn't chosen violence and obstinance so often. I also think that there's something really beautiful about her coming to the conclusion that her life was not spent well on her own- a lesser arc would have had a "better" person point it out to her, but for the most part, she arrives there almost entirely internally. It's great stuff. Her perspective is also just really goddamn well written- when you're in her mindset, especially on your first readthrough of Worm, it's really easy to just kind of go along with whatever she presents as the best option- it wasn't until my second readthrough that I noticed how batshit insane she is and how often she escalated when dozens of other options were avaliable. The fandom, however. hoo boy. If i talked about all my greviences with how taylor gets written in the fandom at large i'd need a second post, so i'll just leave it at the statement that Taylor is basically treated like a stealth SI by a lot of people and i'm sure y'all can realize i'm right when you take a second look.
