Este es uno de esos casos en que una película, que en su momento recibió sonoras críticas, termina convirtiéndose en objeto de culto. Para muchos, es una publicidad de hora y media de las bondades de la célebre empresa de videojuegos Nintendo y del parque Universal Studios.

La anécdota nos lleva a conocer a Jimmy Woods (Luke Edwards), un chiquito que suele escabullirse del ojo adulto para huir hacia California por alguna extraña razón. Esta actitud tan incomprensible lleva a su familia a decidir internarlo en un instituto psiquiátrico infantil. Los padres de Jimmy se han divorciado y sostienen una tensa relación entre ellos. Su hermanito Corey (Fred Savage) va a visitarlo de manera sorpresiva y acaba acompañándolo en su travesía. Por el camino se encuentra con una chica llamada Haley Brooks (Jenny Lewis) y la oportunidad de ganarse 50.000 dólares en un concurso de videojuegos en Las Vegas, confiando en las aptitudes innatas de Jimmy para este tipo de menesteres virtuales.

Claro que, cuando sus ausencias son advertidas, el padre (Beau Bridges) y hermano (Christian Slater) de ambos deciden ir tras su búsqueda; también, aunque por motivos menos amorosos (su trabajo reside en buscar niños perdidos y recibir una paga por ello), los acecha el impiadoso Putnam (Will Seltzer).

Un elemento esencial en el mito de la película (dirigida por Todd Holland), pero no tan importante en la historia, es el Power Glove, el cual verás en las últimas fotos. Se trata de un accesorio de la Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Un guante que, conectado a la consola, permitía activar los movimientos en el juego sólo con la mano.

What fun and gorgeousness! Time flew with two-time Emmy-nominated actress, Lee Purcell, and, world’s collided all over the place. It is a small world, after all.

From her runway days at three (I know!), Native American ancestry, multi-generational military mantle, to dancing, singing, regional TVing’, Lee went on to best 500 hopefuls, handpicked by Steve McQueen hisself (who mentored Lee in all things life, career & fitness––sweet surprise story there), to co-star with Kirk’s son, fairly green, Michael Douglas. Lee later co-starred with Kirk, and they’re not her only father/son dynasty co-stars. Not a bad place to start. Follow that teaming with Orson Welles, earning an Emmy nomination alongside Mark Harmon, and then another co-starring with Beau Bridges, and father Lloyd. In fact, Lee had lots of Bridges. Hysterical. Old friends with Jeff and his later girlfriend, Candy Clark, well, there are stories then and now, there, too. There’s Malcolm McDowell, Chadwick Bostwick, Jon Voight, a brand spanking new, Nicolas Cage, in Valley Girl (his first feature film), and that’s barely scratching the Lee Hollywood leading men, surface. The most guest-starring roles on Murder She Wrote, and loads of other TV appearances, cross-genres.

We talked fabulous friends, Donny Most, Anson Williams, Geri Jewell, Roslyn Kind, Joey Travolta, and his important inclusion film, Carol of the Bells, and the wondrous Donna Pescow––how we connected, and how those soul sisters found each other and just knew.

What a delightful, easy, breezy sit down with this stunning, age-defying beauty, who managed to manifest her dreams and continues to do so. Looking forward to her upcoming, Chocolate Is Not Better Than Sex. You’re telling me.
