the "symptoms" start out subtle, but distinct enough for the people who know him to recognize, despite his efforts to hide them. in the days leading up to the curse taking over, AZ gets noticeably itchy/visibly uncomfortable due to the sudden increase in hair growth on his chest and arms, and may develop some discoloration around his eyes and nose as his beastly markings begin to form. the transformation itself is quite rapid, though he has enough time beforehand to lock himself away from the rest of the world so nobody else is subjected to it.

the self-isolation isn't only out of shame, but for protection; freshly transformed beast!AZ starts off in a sort of feral, "frenzy" state, barely in control of himself. thankfully, it's only temporary, rarely lasting more than an hour or so before he comes back to a more lucid state. before settling down at Hotel Z, he'd often find himself coming to in the middle of the woods or crammed into the nearest cave, but nowadays tends to just curl up in his bathtub and stay there until he can think clearly again.

weakened by his transformation, AZ typically calls on Floette to help him get dressed again. despite being ashamed of his beastly appearance, she holds no judgement against him, instead being happy to comfort him, cuddle him, and comb his fur. his hotel staff have gotten used to this cycle as well, and will visit him once Floette tells them he's awake and okay, bringing food and clean clothes for him.

reverting back to his normal form takes a while, and he'll typically stay as a monster for a few hours afterwards, only changing back when he falls asleep. in most cases, he'll wake up with a few remnants of his beast form still present, which are essentially the same as the "symptoms" leading up to his transformation, though these fade away much more quickly than they first appear.
