So I just watched the beam finals. (I recorded them), and oh my god I think Alice D’Amato and Rebecca Andrade were the only people who didn’t have a huge mistake.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m super happy for Alice D’Amato, it must feel so good to get the first women’s gymnastics gold ever for your country.

And the reasoning that the crowd was quiet for the amount of falls that there were is reasonable, considering how loud they usually are.

But WOW, I was not expecting half the competitors to completely come off of the beam.

I’ve been waking up a little late and watching gymnastics on replay on nbc’s olympic website and avoiding spoilers until after I watch it.

They aren’t replaying today’s balance beam until AFTER PRIME TIME tonight and I had no idea, so I couldn’t wake up early. So now beam has been spoiled for me and I’m pissed as hell that I can’t even watch it?

P-Bars and High bar haven’t been spoiled for me, but it’s not like NBC’s gonna pay a bit of attention to Men’s gym in prime time anyway.

Fuck them.
