He was honored that she considered him a friend, of course, but maybe she should’ve just not gotten so worked up over it. That didn’t mean he didn’t greatly appreciate someone stepping up for him. One of the many reasons why he almost never left Spikemuth was the stares and whispered comments that were sometimes cast his way. Team Yell caused enough trouble outside of the town, so — undoubtedly — the townspeople treat their leader negatively. He never blamed the Team for it, though.
“Yeah, they were,” he stated casually, grasping his left shoulder with his right hand. “I’ve ‘eard plenty more things said ‘bout me. It doesn’t really get t’me all that much, anyway.” That was likely a lie, but he wanted her to relax, and that was the best thing he could think of to say. His hand then dropped to his side, a slight smile forming on his face. “Thanks for defendin’ me, though. Means a lot.”
