That’s right, lots of the Better Call Saul fandom is still hyped about this.

Also maybe Caldera is somehow involved in something Saul did for Walter and/ or Jesse during the Breaking Bad era or alternatively — though I’d love to see Caldera again— something involving his book that Saul acquires, if he did give up that type of work as he planned.

With Nacho gone (💔) Krazy 8 probably plays more of a role in the game.

Plus, we know Saul represented Emilio twice, and they’ve been showing him represent other clients that they briefly mentioned him working with in Breaking Bad, like we knew Spooge was a former client.

*Also, that wouldn’t be a bad opportunity to bring Jesse into Better Call Saul, since Emilio was his partner and he was aware of Saul representing him; it seemed that’s how Jesse knew who Saul was.

I’m trying to think of other areas where the shows have to cross too. I know about “it wasn’t me it was Ignacio / Lalo didn’t send you?”

I’ve seen the theories about Kim representing Jimmy in court if he’s caught or turns himself in, but I like to think the writers wouldn’t have her give up her license just to become an attorney again - for the sake of the story. BUT:

What if Jimmy ends up in a trial like you said but instead of Kim representing him as an attorney, the lawyers opposing Saul try and subpoena Kim to testify, and we learn that they never got divorced and are still protected by spousal privilege?

It would be nice because it wouldn’t be a cheesy, happily ever after, back together ending, but there would always be the fact that they’re still married…

Possibly they smashed so quickly to (approximately) the Breaking Bad era right when we saw the relationship end to as a hint that the split happened so abruptly and Kim left so fast that they didn’t get a divorce.

It’d also serve as a callback since the whole reason they originally got married was so they couldn’t get compelled to testify against one another. Then, as much trouble as they found themselves in, no situation like that ever happened. Maybe it will during the Gene era.

Additionally it could call back to Skyler never finalizing the divorce from Walt even when he thought she had after he signed the papers. Jimmy and Kim may have a similar scenario, perhaps Jimmy reluctantly signed the papers for her and she just fled and never turned them in, or Vice versa, or they just mutually never legally divorced.

It would also make Saul and Walt’s last conversation where Saul advised against leaving Skyler high and dry by disappearing, more meaningful, especially since at that time, Saul headed to Nebraska, his wife’s home state.

A Good Theory.

Hear me out real quick. We all know Lalo is a superhero superhuman genius. So, he will call immediate BS as soon as he somehow hears about the story Nacho told and then way he dies.

Lalo is smarter than Bolsa and the rest of his relatives - the smartest Salamanca by far - and already suspects Gus. Hearing the story Nacho spun will probably confirm this even his suspicions about Chicken Man Gus.

But more importantly :

Lalo will figure out Mike was in the desert both times, during the Nacho death scene and saving Jimmy’s life. Then it’s game on…

Lalo will piece together that Gus obviously had backup to make that confrontation and Lalo will know that he needed MORE backup than Victor and Tyrus. After spying on and following Mike so much, he knows the nature of the work he does for Gus. He will very quickly figure out Mike was there. He will know immediately he hears Nacho’s story at all. If he has heard the story off-screen, he already knows. And this MATTERS. He will then find out Mike was there with Jimmy.

I believe Lalo will contact Saul and Kim needing to speak to both. We just watched Kim put together the last piece of the puzzle 🧩 Lalo needs. She knew Mike was with Jimmy in the desert, FAST.

I believe Saul will learn Nacho’s death story and tell Lalo. Lalo will call BS, figure Gus was involved and that Mike was obviously there, and the reason Saul got out alive. Lalo now doesn’t trust ANYONE and will know someone violently tried to intercept the money to keep him in jail. That should be enough for him to link Mike to the desert.

BUT even if he doesn’t figure Gus was involved, he just has to ask Kim! It’s significant that she knew Mike used to work at the parking lot, because that way without even knowing his name, she can describe who it is, and boom, Lalo knows.

And this would actually be more realistic than all the other stuff Lalo has found out.

I looked up the song playing in the open and at the end of Better Call Saul; it plays while Lalo is in Ms. Ziegler’s house looking for clues in the gifts from the men who didn’t attend her husband’s funeral.

It’s Brahm’s In Stiller Nacht, a German folk song / lied based on a poem. I find the poet’s story more telling than I found the song. Here’s what I found about the author of the original poem:

Parts that may be important:

He demanded defence lawyers for such serious charges and held that torture was useless because it would never lead to the truth. Consequently, those delations extracted under torture weren't valid - Nacho’s “confession,” Lalo already suspects Gus and will probably figure out that Nacho gave that confession under duress and it “would never lead to the truth.”

under torture, accusations spread like wildfire. depending on the torture methods, confessions were considered "free" or "under torture"; he also reported that the lack of confession was tantamount to irrefutable proof of culpability.

The Salamancas had torture tools prepared for Nacho if he refused to give them the information about who hired him to betray Lalo, hence Gus’s plan to have Victor kill him instead.

Before Nacho regained control of the situation in the desert by using the glass on Bolsa and holding the gun to his head, Nacho’s words / “confession” (the fake one Gus made him say) were under duress - he was going to be tortured if he didn’t speak.

When Nacho regained control, he spoke his truth, how he really felt about the Salamanca sacks of psychos and that he had been the one to put Hector in the wheelchair, nearly killing him, by switching his heart pills with sugar pills.

it was better to risk saving a guilty person than to condemn an innocent one -

This could possibly reference Saul’s decision to be a friend to the Cartel/ not rat Lalo out.

*Somehow, I think because Howard and Mike are both having Jimmy and Kim watched, this will lead to a crossfire situation where Jimmy eventually has a choice, either be a friend of the cartel for good / “risk saving a guilty person,” or allow Howard/ Howard’s career to get destroyed under Kim’s plan.

This episode had scenes between Jimmy and Kim that demonstrated that Jimmy no longer understood why he was doing what he was doing with Howard; he actually asked Kim why, out loud, and she didn’t say any real reason. Something is going to happen in Kim’s plan that makes it dangerous- likely involving an accidental crossover with the Mike/Gus/Lalo scenario.

So that’s my overly thought out theory / interpretation of what the German song means for Lalo, what he does and doesn’t believe about the attempt on his life, and what may happen next.
