Rare as it was for Kageyama to miss it, the rest of practice would have to wait. This was far more important. It all happened in a blink: Asahi spiked the ball towards Hinata and Hinata responded as best he could by reaching out with one hand to receive it. It hit his hand at just the right angle to jam his ring finger in. Anybody else wouldn’t have noticed, but few of them had the same vigilance that Kageyama has mid-game. Hinata was apparently the kind of dumbass to ignore the pain and continue playing it, but Kageyama wasn’t having any of it, immediately stomping over to drag the smaller off the court and into the club room. For once, it wasn’t to throttle him for his piss-poor receiving.
A setter takes care of his hands -- a setter takes care of his teammate’s hands. They wouldn’t be able to play volleyball if they didn’t do that much.
“Stay still, Hinata -- dumbass.” Kageyama hisses through his teeth, focused on wrapping athletic tape around the afflicted finger. He sent Shimuzu to grab some ice for the swelling that was sure to come. Treating injuries was far from his forte, but he could do this much -- it’s a common enough injury, but that doesn’t change how devastating it can be. Even after he’s done treatment, he continues to hold Hinata’s hand with care. “Does it hurt? Can you use it?”

To that comment, he spits the water he’s drinking everywhere -- exactly like a fountain, really. Between coughs, he reaches over and grabs Shouyou by the shirt for that comment.
“AAH? SHUT UP, DUMBASS.” He’s sputtering, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand with no sense of composure at all. With the hand that was holding the accursed water bottle, he karate chops the smaller right on his head. “We’re just sharing a water bottle! That’s all!”
And yet, when he tries to bring that water bottle to his lips a second time, he hesitates, squinting at it right before chucking it straight at Shouyou’s head with all the force he could muster.
