magnus’ dad has always had connections within organized crime. and since young, magnus had always been TIED to the moriyama’s whether he liked it or not. he’d grown up with the likes of riko and kevin, though he didn’t have the skills they did despite the ties he had to them because of his father. because of this, he always striving harder to be better---to feel WORTHY of his father’s name and status. but in reality, he was NOTHING like his father. and he would soon find out, that wasn’t a bad thing.
 however, when his father went on the run for some kind of BETRAYAL against the moriyama’s he was left to fend for himself. at the hands of riko and the others. he had to face the CONSEQUENCES of his father’s betrayal, however, that only made him stronger. he joined edgar allan’s exy team, though only as a sub, but after enduring riko’s wrath and proving himself not like his father, he gained more recognition and the moriyama’s adopted him into their family by ichirou. he does not have a close relationship to him despite this.
though he’d grown up in such a harsh environment, he hasn’t grown cold to the world or the people around him. while yes, be might come off as a bit cocky, but that’s only FALSE BRAVADO to feel like he belongs among the other ravens and the moriyama’s who took him in after everything his father did ( which, he still doesn’t even know the full story of ). though, later to find out that he’d been caught and killed for whatever his actions were.
he keeps his grades up so he can continue to play exy, but he’s DISTANT from people. he might not be cold, but he doesn’t trust easily, doesn’t really let people in. but deep down, he’s softer and kinder than he lets on. but he’s had to learn how to harden himself to the cruel world around him.
