And another one for hurt/comfort bingo. Last Atlantis one for now.

This one is titled 'Reluctant Adventurer', and is for the ‘Homesickness’ prompt.

To be honest, Icarus had never intended to leave the city with them that night. He had intended to try to help them escape, and then, assuming he survived, he was going to go home and lay low for a while. But instead he found himself being dragged along with Pythagoras and his mission; him the unworthy one, the reluctant hero and adventurer.

Now, from the relative safety of the ship, the fact that he never properly said goodbye to his father is something that plays on Icarus' mind on the long nights out at sea.

I have two questions:

What was the point of Jason coming from the future? Couldn’t he just be a amnesic dude from another greek city?

His father was going to die if he didn’t do something. I’m not surprised his father’s life is considered more important than his lover’s life. I’m not saying he doesn’t love Pythagoras, he obviously did otherwise he wouldn’t have just risked his life helping him. And those glances, hugs and unnecessary touches just scream “I LOVE YOU!” Thing is, no matter what faults Daedalus has, he did raise Icarus. He’s Icarus’ father so of course his father is no1 in his life.

I personally think Pythagoras would understand. After all, he does trust Melas despite not knowing Melas’ reasoning and assuming Melas is a traitor because he can be. We know Pythagoras and Icarus have a very strong friendship (read: romantic relationship) and something like this will hurt Pythagoras but won’t ruin their love forever. I do believe it will hurt Pythagoras but he’s Pythagoras. He’s rational enough to understand Icarus’ intentions (eventually).

I’m really scared about the angst though. It’s going to kill me, I know.
