18 + jaytim for the drabble ask? or any prompt you wish you were sent!
Wow it's SUCH a good thing that I kept a note that had all the actual prompts in them đ Thank you for waiting so patiently for this!!! And if you're on ao3 please reply with your link so I can gift it to you! I hope you enjoy đ
Prompt: This is without a doubt the stupidest plan youâve ever had. Of course Iâm in.
Keep reading on ao3 or below the cut:
âOkay. Our target will be entering the theater with his date sometime between 5:28 and 5:42. Research indicates that he likes to be in the theater long enough to see all the previews, and his date likes to have time to acquire snacks. Iâve seen the movie three times already, so even though the tickets say the movie starts at 6, itâs actually going to start at 6:14, and lights will go down for previews at 5:55. Weâre going to enter the theater at 5:54 â question?â
âWhat if I want popcorn?â Jason asks, lowering his hand back down into his lap.Â
Tim scoffs and rolls his eyes, turning his attention back to the map of the theater. âIâm not answering thatââ
ââWeâre going to sit through a two hour movie that youâve already seen three times, I want snacks.â
Timâs lips press into a thin line as he glares at Jason.Â
Jason raises an eyebrow at him, and the standoff continues as Tim assesses his opponent.
The air between them is so tense, itâs sort of surprising that a tumbleweed doesnât blow right through the nest.Â
Tim breaks first, with a sigh and a roll of his eyes. âFine, after a cost-benefit analysis in which the cost is adding time to buy snacks and the benefit is you not intentionally sabotaging our mission, I have determined it is in my best interest to add time for us to buy snacks.â
âThe cost is also the actual snacks, you know,â Jason adds.Â
Tim very graciously decides not to throw his laser pointer at him.Â
âFocus up, Jason, this is a mission.âÂ
Jason scoffs and kicks his feet up onto the coffee table, looking incredibly bored, but he nods at Tim and redirects his attention to the map of the theater.
âWe will be entering the theater at 5:54. Youâre going to laugh at something I say right as the lights are going down, so that I can shush you and draw the targetâs attention. Then weâre going to find our seats, which are hereââ Tim points the laser at a pair of seats two rows in front of the seat with a target drawn neatly on it, ââso that he sees us, but doesnât have time to corner us. After we sit, youâll put your arm around me â what is it now, Jason?â Tim sighs at Jasonâs raised hand.Â
âWhy donât we just tell them weâre dating?âÂ
Jason thinks he sees Timâs eye twitch.Â
âAre you insane?âÂ
âAre you? Look at this fucking plan, Tim.â Jason waves a hand at the map of the theater. âYou saw the Barbie movie three times for this, and youâre going to see it a fourth.âÂ
âThis is Dickâs eleventh time seeing it.â
âHeâs Dick.âÂ
âYeah, but itâs worth it! And I actually think youâll really like it too, it has excellent commentary onââ
ââNot the point, baby,â Jason interrupts, shaking his head.Â
Tim scoffs, getting that tilt to his mouth that only comes out when heâs really irritated.Â
âSo what, you wanted to sit them all down and tell them?â
âUgh, no!â Jason huffs. âI figured we could just, like. I donât know. Kiss after a briefing or something.âÂ
Oh, Timâs eye is definitely twitching.Â
âIn the Batcave. Where we can be locked in?âÂ
âOh, fine, yeah. I see that, alright. After a mission, before the briefing, then?âÂ
âSo you want to be interrogated publicly.âÂ
âWe can run!â Jason scoffs.
âFrom Dick, Damian, Stephanie, Cass, Duke, Babs, and Bruce?âÂ
âWell, Duke might not be there, we might have a chance ifââ
ââCass.âÂ
In the following silence, Tim crosses his arms over his chest and raises an eyebrow at Jason.Â
âFine. Fine!â Jason sighs, âNot that. One at a time, then?âÂ
âYou want to have the same conversation six times?âÂ
âWhy does everyone think I hate talking about feelings?âÂ
âBecause you do hate talking about feelings,â Tim says, looking slightly amused.Â
âI value my privacy, thereâs a difference. Plus, in this family, you give an inch and they take a mile.â
âFine. Let me walk you through what happens if we donât do my plan.â
Oh, here we go, Jason thinks as he spots that one look in Timâs eye that he gets whenever heâs setting a trap.
âWhere do you suggest we start?âÂ
âOh god, Bruce last.âÂ
âFine, give me the order you would want to do it in.âÂ
Jason tilts his head to the side for a second, before settling on: âDuke, Cass, Dick, Steph, Damian, Bruce.âÂ
Tim opens his mouth, a glimmer in his eyes, and Jason adds, âActually, switch Steph and Dick.âÂ
If anything, that malicious look in his eyes only gets worse.Â
âOkay, fine. Starting with Duke is smart. Since he has the whole ghost vision thing, he probably already knows. Heâll have some questions, and heâll probably tease us a little, but it shouldnât be totally unbearable, right?âÂ
Jason winces.
âNext, Cass. She definitely already knows, but sheâs been waiting for us to tell her because either sheâs being kind, or because sheâs also waiting for the opportunity to tease us. But again, we can take getting teased by Cass.
âNow, switching Steph and Dick. Either way, weâve already fallen into a trap, because Steph will be offended if we tell Dick first, and Dick will be offended if we tell Steph first, and either way, both of them will be offended that we told Duke and Cass before them. Steph already knows we were sleeping togetherââ
ââWhat?â
âOh, yeah, I told her ages ago,â Tim says, swiping a hand through the air like he can just wave away Jasonâs surprise. âSo us dating probably wonât be news, strictly speaking. But sheâs going to squeal and hug us and be excited and so happy for usââ he drops his voice back down from the higher pitched tone heâs been using to mock his best friend, ââuntil she finds out that weâve been hiding it from her for three months, and then this is going to be an actual, physical fight.â
âNo, it wonât,â Jason scoffs, kicking at the coffee table.Â
âJason,â Tim says, crossing his arms over his chest. âShe hit me in the face with a brick the day we met. She is going to punch you, and it is going to hurt.â
It wouldnât hurt that much, Jason thinks. But he knows better than to try and stop Tim now that heâs really going, so he keeps his mouth shut and lets his head fall to rest on the back of the couch.
âNow, Dick. Heâs going to be so emotional. Heâs going to be so happy for us he could cry, and he might, and heâs also going to be indignant that we didnât tell him first. And once he gets past that, he is going to have a thousand questions, some of which are going to be invasive and personal and deeply uncomfortable. And heâs not going to understand that they are invasive and personal and deeply uncomfortable! Itâs going to be an interrogation, Jason. One where he asks us about our sex life.â
Jason refuses to wince at that. He does sigh, if only to voice his displeasure with everything about this situation.Â
Well. Everything except getting to date Tim.
Thatâs been pretty great.
âAnd if we ever escape Dick, then weâll have Damian. He does care about us and he will find a way to shovel talk both of us, but he probably wonât care that we waited so long to tell him. He is definitely going to be mad that he was the last to know, though. Actually, no one is going to be happy about not being the first to know. But revisiting shovel talks, Bruce.â
âHey, Iâm actually dying to see the look on his face when he finds out,â Jason says, a malicious grin pulling across his face. âThat vein in his forehead is going to pop out, itâll be funny.âÂ
âOh?â Tim raises an eyebrow, stepping towards the coffee table. His palms press to the table as he leans down to look Jason in the eyes.Â
The whole thing would probably be as intimidating as he was going for to someone who hadnât seen imprint of bedsheets pressed into the side of his face this morning as he tripped on the sheets getting out of bed.Â
But heâs a professional, so he carries on like Jason hasnât noticed the intimidation isnât working.Â
âItâll be funny? Itâll be funny when Bruce handles it by telling us we need to break up because he doesnât have any time to process what it means for us and not what it means for the mission?âÂ
âHeâs not going to do that, Tim.âÂ
Tim narrows his eyes at Jason.
âAre you sure?âÂ
Suddenly, Jasonâs throat feels a little dry.Â
âOkay, fine,â he concedes. âB doesnât always respond well to emotional situations under pressure. But he wonât demand we break upââ
ââNo?â Tim interrupts. âThen what, weâll get a lecture on how weâre endangering ourselves and each other and everyone else with our feelings?â
âWe wonâtââ
âEven if we donât, you think Dickâs interrogation was going to be bad? Thatâll be the warm-up for Bruce. Heâll take each of us into his office alone and ask a million questions, and if, if he approves, itâll still be exhausting and uncomfortable andââ
âOkay, okay!â Jason stops him, putting his hands up in surrender. The motion makes that one look ripple through Timâs eyes that he gets whenever he wins, the one thatâs always a little bit of a turn on when itâs not Jason whoâs lost. âYou made your point. Weâre not going to tell them all individually.âÂ
âAnd you still want to tell them all together? You want to handle all of those reactions at once?âÂ
âNot really,â Jason sighs.Â
âOkay. In that case, hear my plan out: We let Dick see us on a date. He starts to suspect that itâs a date, and he follows us. We get dinner after the movie and let him follow us, and then you take me home, and we let him see us kissing through the window. He wonât interrupt because then he would have to admit he was spying on us, and he wonât want to walk in on us, but thatâs key, because it gives him time to process it. And because heâs a horrible gossip, heâs going to tell everyone for us. And heâs also going to tell everyone to keep it quiet and not say anything to us, because he doesnât want us to know it came from him. And that is going to give everyone else time to process it. And eventually Dick is going to get sick of trying to subtly ask us questions and heâs just going to blurt out a question about whether or not weâre actually dating, and weâll say yes, and then heâll be so smug about having âfigured it outâ that he wonât ask half of the questions he would have if weâd sprung it on him, and by then heâll have figured out that he doesnât actually want to know the answers to those questions.âÂ
âOne flaw in your plan.âÂ
âNo, there isnât,â Tim scoffs.
âEveryoneâs going to be mad we hid it for this long anyways.âÂ
âBut we did hide it for this long, so itâs a little too late to avoid that. And if anyone gets mad, we just tell them that we were worried that they werenât going to accept us and thatâs why we didnât tell them, and then theyâll stop being mad because it wonât look good for them.â
âThatâs kind of manipulative, Tim.âÂ
Tim shrugs at him. âAnd? Look, are you in or not?âÂ
âSo, your plan is to let Dick see us on a date at the Barbie movie and then let him follow us home so he can see us kiss?âÂ
âYes. Werenât you listening?âÂ
Jason sighs and rubs his thumb and forefinger against his eyes. âThis is the stupidest plan youâve ever hadââ
ââHey!ââÂ
ââbut yes, Iâm in.âÂ
âThatâs more like it. But for the record, itâs not stupid. Itâs incredibly well thought out.â The little red dot of the laser pointer circles around the map of the theater, as if Timâs proving his point.Â
âThatâs what makes this so stupid, baby. This is way too much work. You saw that movie three times for this.âÂ
âYouâre going to want to see it again, too, Jason. I promise.âÂ
âWait, wait, one last question, though.âÂ
Tim sighs, âYes?âÂ
âWe are actually going to fuck after Dick sees us kiss, right?âÂ
Jason ducks just in time to dodge the laser pointer soaring over his head as he cackles at Tim.Â
âYouâre lucky I love you,â Tim scoffs, rolling his eyes.Â
The last of Jasonâs laughter dies down as he fishes the laser pointer out from behind the couch and tosses it back to Tim.
âEvery day, baby. Aw, donât pout, come on. You can walk me through your plan again, if you want.â
âFine. Now pay attention, and hold all your questions until the end, please.âÂ
They make it about as far in to the plan as they did last time when Jason raises his hand again.Â
Oh gosh. A year and a half later đ hi Livvy!! Thank you for the ask đ
I found a bunch of these drabble prompts when I was organizing my WIP folder and some of them were almost finished - since you write like your hand is on fire, I wanted to come back with your prompt first. You're an incredible writer and the way you just go for it is inspiring, so thank you for sharing your works. And in return, here's an answer to your prompt:
41 - "You did all this for me?"
You can read it here on Ao3 or below the cut here on tumblr. Thanks for waiting so patiently đ
Timâs bag drops to the floor with a thunk. If he could be, he would probably be worried about whether or not he just broke the screen of his laptop, but he doesnât have it in him. Heâs had a long fucking day.
His pile of shoes are lined up by the wall, neat and tidy, and itâs not a surprise. Itâs a signature move of Jasonâs. But the tornado that his living room had been â well, it looks like another tornado spun through in reverse and put everything back where it belongs. It smells incredible, too â sweet and salty and cheesy and oh â grilled cheese and tomato soup.
There are blankets and pillows piled high on the couch and the TV has his favorite episode of the Next Generation pulled up â the one where Q loses his powers and tries to join Starfleet â and the lights are dimmer than he remembers, some of the harsh white bulbs swapped out for warmer yellow ones. Heâs surprised how much more comfortable it makes his space.Â
All of this is surprising, actually. But the most surprising thing is that in front of a steaming pot on his stove and a plate with two grilled cheeses on it, Jason is standing there, looking like Alfred just caught him sneaking into the manor.Â
âShit,â Jason says, but it doesnât seem like he quite meant to say it.Â
Tim raises an eyebrow and Jasonâs cheeks flush. That panicked look doesnât go away.
âYouâre home early,â Jason says, like that clears anything up.
Tim opens his mouth to answer, because his body seems to know he should do that. His brain hasnât quite caught up, though, so he just sort of stands there with his mouth open while Jasonâs blush spreads down his neck.
By the time he manages to get his brain to start working again, Jason has stopped blinking at him and started moving. The only reason he doesnât make it out the door is because Tim grabs his arm when he tries to walk past him.Â
âYou⊠did all this for me?â
Jasonâs eyes latch onto the door like maybe if he focuses hard enough, heâll find himself on the other side of it.Â
âItâs not a big deal,â Jason says, and it sounds like heâs been repeating that one to himself for a while.
âYou swapped out my lightbulbs.âÂ
âThey were white LED bulbs. It was oppressive.âÂ
âI know, I complained about it a few weeks ago.âÂ
A muscle in the side of Jasonâs jaw pulses. He still wonât look at Tim.Â
Shit. Shit.Â
âWe need to talk,â Tim declares, because he knows what happens after this if they donât .Â
Jason disappears for a little while, with a hastily written and thinly veiled excuse for pulling away. He answers Timâs messages, but he canât take calls, and then eventually Tim stops messaging, because he wants to give him space if he needs it. And then one day, Timâs swinging over a street or sneaking through a building or catching his breath after a fight, and he spots a glint of red. And even though he knows he should know better, even though it isnât the first or fifth or fifteenth time this has happened, even though his gut clenches with something angry â his heart beats a little faster in his chest.Â
And a few days later, he inevitably flicks on the lights in his apartment and sees that his shoes are lined up by the wall. Or he pulls into one of his garages and finds Jasonâs bike parked in his spot. Or he turns a corner and nearly slams into Jasonâs chest, has to wrestle his anger with one fist and his excitement with the other, while Jason snickers and he tries to get his heart to stop pounding.
And then Jason makes it up to him.Â
Then things are good for a while. Easy. Everything is backup in the field and tech projects â Jasonâs always got something that could use a little work, something with low enough stakes that it doesnât keep him awake but high enough importance that it isnât a waste of time â and showering the grime off together and wringing an orgasm out of each other, and then eventually itâs waking up next to each other and home cooked meals and waiting to watch the new episode of whatever theyâre watching and all the things that would make Jason run if Tim called it what it was: domestic.Â
But he doesnât have to call it that, because inevitably they run into something too domestic for Jasonâs comfort anyways, and suddenly Timâs throwing out spoiled vegetables and piling paperwork all over the counters and chucking his shoes into a pile at the door again.
And thatâs whatâs about to happen, unless Tim forces some words past the knot in his throat.
âWe donât need to talk,â Jason says.
âCan we?âÂ
âWhy? Thereâs nothing to talk about. Itâs not a big deal.â
âIâm not asking to talk because itâs a big deal, Jason.âÂ
âThen why do we need to talk?âÂ
Tim grits his teeth. He knows what Jasonâs doing. Trying to wind him up, piss him off. Get him to snap at him so they can have a fight and call it, and then Tim wonât even try to get in touch with him while he fucks off to wherever he really goes when heâs decided he doesnât want to play house anymore, and then heâll come back in a few weeks, once there are lines for him to cross again.Â
âBecause we never talk about it. We never talk about anything!âÂ
âItâsââÂ
Tim interrupts him, squeezing his eyes shut and pinching the bridge of his nose. âIf you say itâs not a big deal one more time, Iâm going to make it a big deal. So if you donât want that, bite back your snarky asshole attitude for one goddamn second, please.âÂ
He hears a little frustrated-resigned huff and opens his eyes, looking around the apartment. This is⊠itâs a love letter, isnât it? Jason is all acts of service, Tim knows that, and he doesnât say anything because if Jason knew heâd noticed, he would have stopped.Â
Timâs eyes lock on the steam floating off the pot on the stove, and he makes himself say something heâs thought about saying a million times, but never really considered admitting.Â
God, he hopes heâs right.
âI fucking hate it when you leave,â he mutters.
The muscles of Jasonâs bicep tense under his fingers, and he sees Jason freeze from the corner of his eye. His heart starts pounding harder with every word tumbling out of his mouth.Â
âI just⊠I like pissing you off with my inability to cook and I like getting annoyed when you flaunt your height over me and I really like fucking you, and I really, really like spending time with you.â
He spots Jasonâs throat working from the corner of his eye, feels his own face heating up.
âItâs just frustrating! Because then you turn back up and we start fucking around again and it takes forever for things to go back to normal, and then they finally do for just long enough that I think maybe I donât have to worry about you disappearing again, until one day you do something that gives you cold feet, and you run off again. And I just⊠I really donât want that day to be today.â
Tim finally forces his eyes off the tomato soup and onto Jasonâs, his gut clenching tight with uncertainty.
He was expecting to see panic, considering Jasonâs been looking panicked since he walked in, but he wasnât expecting to see fear, and shit, maybe he did miscalculate somewhere.Â
âIâm just tired of you playing with my feelings,â he mumbles, already bracing himself to hear what he didnât want to hear. His eyes skate back to the pot â at least heâll have some solid comfort food for the night of wallowing heâs about to have.
âIââ Jason starts, his voice cracking on the word. He has to swallow before trying again. âIâm not playing with your feelings.âÂ
At the look on Timâs face, Jason keeps talking. âNonono, I didnât mean â fuck. Iâm listening. I just didnât know you had feelings. Not like â not at all ! Just. You know. Like that. For â me?â he says like a question, his eyes seeking confirmation in Timâs.Â
Tim flushes.
âLook, if you want to do the fucking around thing and thatâs it, then fine. We can do that. But if youâre going to do stuff like this, I canât⊠I really need you to be clear with me about what you want. Please.âÂ
There are only so many seconds of silence he can bear staring at the pot of soup, so he lets his eyes skip back to Jasonâs, finding them wide and scared and so goddamn green. His throat keeps working, like heâs trying to get some words out, and god, Tim was stupid for trying to get Jason to talk to him. If heâs ready to talk about something, heâs fine with communicating, but if you beat him to the punch?Â
The pounding of his heart marks the passing time as they stare at each other, as the fear pools in Jasonâs eyes, as the vice of his jaw clicks tighter shut, and finally, Tim canât take it anymore.Â
âLook, Iâll make this easy for you. Thank you for doing all this for me, itâs⊠itâs really kind. Iâm going to pour myself some of that soup and turn on that episode of Star Trek, and if you want to join me, I would really like that, but I am going to read into it that this is not just fucking. And if youâre not comfortable with that, if you want to go, you can go ahead, and we can keep fucking around if you want, but stuff like this has to stop. Weâre either fucking, or weâre more, and I canât keep guessing. Itâs not fair. So Iâm going to let go of your arm, and you⊠do whatever you want,â Tim sighs, not quite sure that he managed not to sound bitter about the last few words.Â
Whatâs the point of even saying them? Jason always does whatever he wants.Â
Tim lets go of his arm, watches Jasonâs pupils dilate as he feels the cool air against his fingers. Then he steps around him and pushes up his sleeves as he heads to the stove.Â
A cacophony of thoughts whirs in his head too loud for him to pick any one of them out as he ladles his Campbell's into the bowl Jason pulled out. He can barely hear the sound of Jasonâs tight, shallow breathing, and even though he hasnât looked, he knows Jason hasnât moved.Â
Wait , he thinks as he picks up the plate and brings his food to the living room. Wait , he thinks as he kicks up his feet onto the coffee table and tracks down the remote. Wait and see , he thinks as he clicks play and picks up a grilled cheese.Â
The sounds of the Enterprise filter in through the speakers, and Tim makes it a little quieter. He picks up his sandwich and is about to dip it into the soup when he hears it â the creak of the linoleum floor of his kitchen.Â
His breath catches as he listens, hearing sharpening until as he waits to find out if heâs about to hear the front door or not.Â
Thatâs not what he hears. What he hears is Jasonâs footsteps getting closer, and the sound of his breathing, shallow and quick. He comes around the couch and hesitates, his gaze palpable on Tim.Â
Tim keeps waiting, refusing to let himself react one way or the other. Jason could still turn around and leave, after all. So Tim holds the sandwich and stares at the screen and waits, and waits, and waits, until the show has made it to the goddamn intro and he canât take it anymore.Â
He drops the sandwich back on the plate and grabs the remote, pauses, and turns to Jason.Â
âLook, Iâm not asking forââ and then he stops, because the look on Jasonâs face isnât what he was expecting. He doesnât look panicked anymore. He doesnât look frightened, or awkward.Â
No, the look on his face is a mixture of determination and longing and â thereâs something else he canât place.
âTim,â Jason says, and his voice is thick and gruff and low, heavy with something that Timâs never heard in it before.
âYeah?â His collar is too tight and his feet are hot and heâs gripping the remote too tightly and Jason is staring at him, intensity rippling out of his gaze.
âDo you want me to stay?â
Timâs gut seizes, all the nerves heâs been trying to ignore suddenly reaching up and grasping tight around his stomach. Of course, he thinks. Of course, of course, of course, you absolute moron. Who wouldnât?
His mouth opens to say yes, and it snares on something in his throat. Itâs funny, how even though he just demanded the same thing of Jason, even though he can see how much Jason cares for him in all the things he does, he canât get the words out.
The last thing in Jasonâs expression falls into place; itâs suspicion. And suddenly it clicks â Jasonâs been putting love in everything he does. Itâs in the shoes and itâs in the sandwich and itâs in the fucking sheets.Â
And Tim doesnât know how to do that. He doesnât know how to write his feelings into the moments of a day. He doesnât know how to scatter the evidence, the proof, for Jason to find. He doesnât know how to cook it into a sandwich, how to wipe the counters with it, how to make the bed with it.Â
He swallows and holds Jasonâs gaze.Â
âYes. I want you to stay.â
Thereâs a brief moment where even though Tim knows heâs right to admit it â he couldnât give you an exact calculation but he knows he wouldnât take the risk if it wasnât well over 90% in his favor â his gut still clenches again, his brain screaming that he fucked up and Jasonâs going to leave after all and itâll be all his fault that he lost the one thing in his life that made things easier âÂ
And then Jasonâs stepping forward. He drops down onto the couch, right next to Tim, gravity displacing the cushion and making him bounce slightly. Jason reaches to pluck the remote from his hands, but he grimaces once heâs holding it.Â
âUgh, you got it all greasy.â He stands again, reaches across the table for a paper towel, and wipes it off. Then he presses play and drops it back on the couch next to him as Picardâs speech floats between them. His arm falls behind Timâs shoulders and he stares at the screen, watching the intro scene that theyâve seen over a hundred times like itâs brand new.Â
âStop staring at me,â Jason says without looking away from the screen.Â
âSorry,â Tim says, his eyes shifting to the screen. âAre you⊠staying?âÂ
âIâm here, arenât I?â Jason asks, lifting his hand up in a little âsee?â gesture, before he drops it back on Timâs shoulder.Â
Relief floods through him, the tension in his muscles relaxing as he melts into the couch, into Jasonâs hold.
âItâs not a big deal,â Jason says, and Tim knows that out of the two of them, he isnât the one that Jasonâs trying to convince.
âOkay,â Tim agrees, forcing himself not to grin like an idiot. But he feels pleased, content, relaxed in a way he hasnât in months, since before the first time Jason left.Â
He leans into Jasonâs shoulder and tucks himself into the space there, letting Jason wrap around him.Â
âDid you buy wonder bread for this?â Tim asks, right before he picks up a sandwich half and swipes it through the soup, takes a bite. Itâs crispy and buttery and warm and it tastes like comfort. His eyes water, and he tells himself nostalgia has nothing to do with it. The foodâs just hot.
âAnd Kraft slices.â
A short, sharp laugh squeezes past the lump in Timâs throat, easing it a little. âWow, you do like me.âÂ
âShut up,â Jason says, blush creeping down his neck, and now Tim canât help grinning like an idiot. â You like me .â
âOf course I do. Look at all this,â Tim says, waving around the apartment at all the things Jason did. âYou swapped out my lightbulbs. You bought me that cheese you hate because you know I like it. You do that thing with your tongue. Youâre boyfriend material.âÂ
Now Jasonâs blushing all the way up to his ears, and Tim grins wide.
âItâs not cheese, itâs cheese product , â Jason says, and Tim lets it go. They can worry about the labels another night. Jason probably still needs some time to think before heâs ready to talk about it, and thatâs fine â Tim will wait.
âYouâre not even a little curious about the tongue thing that Iâm referring to?âÂ
âNo. Maybe. No, weâre still on the cheese product,â Jason says, but heâs smirking, because he does, in fact, know exactly what thing Timâs referring to.Â
âItâs delicious.â
âItâs nostalgic. Thereâs a difference,â Jason argues, rekindling their argument from last week. He grins, his gaze going soft when Tim lets out an exasperated sigh and launches into the same speech as he did last time, and yeah, as long as Jason keeps looking at him like that, Timâs happy to wait.

glad to be active again!! I have a bunch of health stuff going on that's really pulled my focus from writing much of anything, but it's nice to just let myself think about fun stuff again đ
I'm putting this under a read more cause this got LONG
YEAHHHHH IDENTITY PORN COLLEGE AU!!! I have a snippet for that one!! A nice, long snippet:
It all went wrong right before Tim had his coffee, because that was always when everything went wrong.
He had just picked it up off the counter, rolling his eyes at the name on the cup. Jim.
Whatever, it was his. It wasnât like anyone else was ordering a large red-eye with two extra shots. He lifted it to take his first sip and turnedâ
Broad shoulders, scar on the neck, white streak in the hair, angry green eyesâcheck, check, check. And check.Â
âJason.â Timâs voice cracked mortifyingly on the word. âHi,â he added, before he finally managed to force his mouth shut.
One thick eyebrow raised at him.
âWhat's up?â he asked delicately. He didnât want to have a very public interaction with Jason here, because they would draw attention and someone would realize he wasnât Jim, but Tim, Tim Wayne, and then this would be in a tabloid.
But apparently, Jason wasnât interested in having a very public interaction. Apparently he wasnât interested in having any sort of interaction with him at all.
He didnât know why he expected Jason to resume talking to him now. Being ignored by Jason was easy. Seeing his anger, the way it twisted in his eyes when they used to be pliant and soft, felt worse.
Tim just sighed, deflating as the air left him. âRight.â It had been for the best, he reminded himself. âIâve gotta go.â
âAs always,â Jason drawled. Timâs eyes snapped back to Jasonâs, and he looked vicious, but a little hurt under it.
basically, the premise is that they meet in college and then start dating, and then they break up because Jason knows that Tim is lying to him about why he's constantly disappearing in the middle of dates, etc. etc. He basically tells Tim the last time that he can either tell him why he's leaving in the middle of the date, or he can not come back. So he doesn't come back. Then Red Hood and Red Robin start hooking up because both of them are looking for outlets, and it's a casual/antagonistic thing until Red Hood ends up taking Red Robin to one of his safehouses after an injury... that Tim had been to for a date with Jason. And of course from there it all spirals! đ
and now for your snippet of Bad Days. A nice long one for being so patient with me:
âI donât even know why you and Tim like this crap,â Jason grumbles as he tosses the controller on the coffee table.Â
âItâs more fun when youâre evenly matched. You should see Tim play against Bart, he loses his shit.âÂ
âTim says he cheats,â Jason mutters as he turns a suspicious eye on Kon.Â
âOnly if having superpowers you canât shut off is considered cheating.âÂ
Jason narrows his eyes at Kon.
âYouâd know if I was using my TTK on you, Jason.â
âWould I?â
âOh... yeah, I guess not. I donât think Iâve ever used it on you.âÂ
Jasonâs face goes a little surprised, and Konâs stomach sinks.
âYou donât think?â
âI⊠canât always control it. Not like, I canât get it to work or anything, but sometimes it has a mind of its own when Iâm relaxed. Especially when Iâm sleeping.â
âWhat does it feel like?âÂ
âI donât actually know. Tim says it feels like a hand sometimes, though.âÂ
âShow me?â
Konâs eyebrows shoot up for a moment, before he forces them back down.Â
âOh, uhââ
Kon takes a second to put down the controller, then he places his hand on Jason's forearm.
For a split second, he isnât sure what he plans to do, but he relaxes the part of him that has his power held back. Itâs a little like noticing his jaw is clenched and forcing the muscle to loosen.
In the second he relaxes his hold, he feels his TTK reach out, and he watches as Jasonâs face turns towards Kon, slowly, like heâs being tilted by a hand on his chin.
âOh,â Jason says softly, and Kon feels a flare of heat across his cheeks.
Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?
ooh probably rooftops and bookshops. I really really really dislike the prose in it now that I've found more of a voice and I think the difference between that fic and my more recent stuff is so so blatant, but I do stand firmly by all of the plot points in that fic. That said, I'm not allowed to touch it because if I start I'll never stop, and I'd rather write new stuff than tweak the same old thing forever.
10. Top three favourite fic tropes.
Enemies to lovers, fake dating, amnesia!
19. Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
Bartâs halfway through peeling the first clementine, the sharp citrusy smell permeating the air over the odor of burnt rubber from the trash, when he looks up. His thumb digs in a little too hard, breaking through the rind and into the fruit, a few drops of the juice splattering up his wrist.
Kon looks at him from the entryway, almost surprised to see him there.Â
Bart stares back. He's still angry from yesterday, and he doesnât feel like pretending he isnât.Â
It must be obvious on his face, because Kon's surprised expression melts into more of a resigned irritation, and he strides past Bart, taking the half-peeled clementine out of his hands.Â
âWhy does it smell like that time Tim accidentally put a cutting board in the oven?â Kon asks as he grabs a mug from the cabinet, his voice gruff with sleep.
Bart starts peeling a new clementine, and heâs done by the time Konâs pouring his coffee. He starts another.Â
âFucked up my sneakers yesterday. Had to throw âem out.âÂ
âI thought you had that friction barrier thing or whatever,â Kon says. The way he phrases it like he doesnât know what heâs talking about grates at him. Why canât Kon just admit that he gives a shit?
Bart shrugs instead of answering, glaring at the peeled fruit.Â
He separates out the segments of the ones he peeled, pulling off those stringy white bits as he goes. His leg is tapping so fast against the chair, the noise it makes sounds vaguely like the blades of a helicopter.Â
Kon sighs and sits down next to him, leaning his head on Bartâs shoulder. He puts the clementine he was holding down on the counter in front of them and Bart picks it up. As heâs about to start peeling it, Kon takes it out of his hands and puts it back where it was. When Bart picks up another one, Kon takes that too, putting it down next to the other one like he wants Bartâs full attention.
A tight, annoyed noise works its way out of Bartâs throat, and Konâs TTK worms around him, feeling like an arm around his shoulder even though both of Konâs hands are on his mug.
âIâm not sorry,â Kon says, his hands tightening around the mug.
âMe neither,â Bart answers, still glaring at the fruit.
31. What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?
Definitely Rooftops & Bookshops, but only because of the "in the end you made it." Otherwise, I'd say Know Yourself, because I am struggling with that fic SO much right now. I'm struggling with writing in general right now but that fic specifically is giving me a very hard time. I do have faith that I will make it though, especially since it's all plotted out! I just have to. You know. Finish it.
oh my god that's right I also post on tumblr when I update a fic asdhfjks
I updated I know what my brother is!! Chapter nine is up!!!
-
Again, Damian wakes first. Again, he is tangled with Tim in the sheets.Â
Again, he watches his brother.Â
The rise and fall of Timâs chest. The shift of his eyes beneath his lids. The stray locks of hair resting against his brow.
The feel of his long, lean fingers, gentle where they press against the bare flesh of Damianâs chest.
He lays there and waits for itâ
The guilt.
As he waits, he listens to the melody of his brotherâs breathing. He inhales the scent of him, seeking to separate it from his own. He brushes that lock of hair from Timâs forehead, presses his lips to the soft, warm skin there.
Tim sinks into him, the furrow leaving his brow, going lax under Damianâs lips.
The guilt never comes.
He cannot bring himself to feel guilt for this.Â
He allows his fingertips to skate across the smooth plane of Timâs cheekbone. His hand traces down his jaw, down his neck, down the sharp turn of his shoulder under the fabric of his shirtâ
Suddenly, Damian is struck with an urge he hasnât felt in a long while.
He wants to draw.
It hits him so suddenly, so fiercely â it is not just something he wants to do.Â
