Piper flipped through the book on the shelf in the book store, only to put it back a moment later. She should have been better at this by now but the truth was that the wards in the house were waring thin. There were no more nanny’s keeping them up or teaching her how to do them. 20 years was too long to ask for anything to last anymore it seemed. She’d caught Cassie talking to ‘friends’ and cringed. She knew that it was normal for kids to have imaginary friends but she also knew what was in her house- what had happened in her house to people at the hands of her ancestors. And while it sucked and she hoped they were burning in hell, she and Cassie should not be the one that ghosts took their vengeance out on.
Putting the book back on the shelf she shrugged her bag up on her shoulder, sighing to herself and rubbing her temple. Book stores weren’t really her thing to start with. Sure she’d grab a new cookbook once in a while but she couldn’t even remember Bon temps having a library besides the very very censored one at the southern school where your choices were the Bible or the Kind James Bible.
Shaking her head she debated asking for help but what exactly would she even say? Or ask for? “Shit.” She muttered to herself. “New age bull shit- figures.”
