Possibly under or overwatering (vague I know, sorry), and also possibly in the wrong place. If it’s a shade plant it could be getting too much sun. If it was inside the store, it probably needs to live somewhere inside your house, or at least under other plants/an awning.
was not inside, but was under the shade thingy. the soil was damp when I left this morning, and if the answer is that I need to buy the plant and umbrella, I am willing to do so.

I saw this on Facebook, and I'm still so shocked it happened. I'm keeping you both in my thoughts. I cannot even fathom how horrible that experience must have been, and I'm so sorry you and Scout went through it. *hugs* Sending you both lots of love.
Thanks for sending Scout love! <3 She’s doing better today. I just gave her some medicine and she’s starting to tire out, which is a good thing because sleep is good. I’m making sure she also gets lots of calories to help her heal.
My dad and I also got hurt during the attack, which we didn’t realize until the adrenaline wore off. The dog bit down on my right hand, but all I got was a bruise and a tooth mark. My legs are all scratched and bruised as well. My poor dad got bit on his forearm and it was bleeding afterward, as well as several scrapes, bruises, and a possibly fractured rib. We both got tetanus shots as a precaution.
We got the dog owner’s info, and I reported the attack to Animal Control. They’ve been keeping me updated, and last I heard they’re going to quarantine the dog that attacked us. I really don’t want the dog to be put down because it’s not the dog’s fault. If the stupid owner had just had the dog in a proper collar with a real leash, the attack would not have happened.
But if the dog has an attack history, then... shit. Unfortunately, it sounds like it might have a history. When I reported it to Animal Control, the guy I spoke to seemed to already know which dog it was that attacked us.
