“Énigme” - (Acrylic, latex...; ~60W x 48H Inches) - Painted following the 2016 truck attack in Nice, Promenade des Anglais). This painting is a tribute to their memory and an expression of puzzlement over those who can do harm to others consciously. There are about 36 figures in the painting, less than half of those who lost their lives that day. It was Bastille Day 2016. A day of joy for the French, which sadly turned into one of great sorrow. This is the first time, the first painting that I did as a tribute to and in remembrance, and deep consciousness of the action and event. To me, this was personal. You see, I had stayed a couple weeks in Nice in September 2015. And I met a friend who lives along the Promenade. . As artists, sometimes we are called on to paint situations or scenes but most of us wished we could ‘unsee’ or ‘unexperience.’ This was the second of my deepest paintings created as a way to comprehend sadness or pain. At other times, we paint the happy moments and great joy and beautiful places of our lives. Such is the life of an artist. . #enigma #enigme #bastilleday2016 #artmuseums #artcollector #interiordesign #blacklivesmatter✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #contemporaryartist #designinspiration #homeinteriors @annapolisartsdistrict @creativelicense @ewrartist #postmodernexpressionist #annapolismd #elaineweinerreed #ewrartist #annapolisartsdistrict #artinsitu #7fineartists #abstractexpressionism #groupdynamics #relationships #contemporaryartist #masksandmirrors #newyorkart #acrylicpaintings #exploringidentity #layersofmeaning #figurativeart #bwiartgallery #livecreatively #modernart #MDArtsUnite https://www.instagram.com/p/CCE06GaH5gU/?igshid=mjrm1ya4716r
