It was Laf's turn to roll his eyes, closing the laptop and earning a noise of protest from Alex. "You like him romantically. You need to talk to him." "Pff, so what?" Alex said, suddenly angry. "He doesn't like me anyways! And besides, I don't have time to date anyone. I need to focus on my school work. If I want to beat Jefferson in any debate, like, ever, I need to study." "Are you kidding?" Laf snorted, "He drew you for his art project titled 'love of my life'! And you study enough. You're in college, for Christ's sake! Have a little fun!" "Hey, it was platonic love, and fun is for the weak, along with sleep and food that isn't ramen and coffee." "Fine, if you don't believe me, go to the coffee shop where he's on his shift and ask him out right now. If he says no, you can play it off as a joke and forget the whole thing. So, um, would you like to maybe go out on a date sometime if you're free or bored someday or-" What Alex was expecting was a nervous chuckle, maybe a look of disgust, before he admitted it was a joke to the relief of everyone. What he did not expect was for John to kiss him, over the counter, knocking over his tip jar and earning applause from the seated customers. "Alex, oh my God, yes! I swear I thought you were never going to ask! You're so oblivious, God!" Alex, still attempting to keep his "cool guy" status, kissed the back of Lauren's hand before picking up the top jar and dropping a five in. "That's for the kiss. Friday, at 8, I'll pick you up and we'll go out." John smirked and handed him his receipt, a heart drawn on the bottom. "Coffee's on me. See you Friday." Alex nodded and walked towards the door where Laf waited. "I did it! He said yes!" "Yes I saw, you made out in front of the entire café. Now let's go so we can squeal back at the dorm." They began to walk out of the shop before John called after them, holding a large cup. "Hey Alex! Maybe take your coffee with you?"
