here’s what i know about john / johnny harper so far for those of you tuning in (& yes i will write this more eloquently aka. put it into his file page soon but JUST SO THERES SOMETHING OUT THERE)
born in 1950 ( he’s 7 years younger than jim ) was a complete & utter wild child in his youth -- constantly ignoring school obligations in favor of sports , parties , and time hitting on whatever girl at the moment had caught his eye . he moved out at the age of eighteen with the intent to travel around the states , eventually crash landing in chicago . he was drafted for the vietnam war in 1969 where he served nearly a year and a half before his unit was sent home following a substantial attack . although he wore no physical injuries , he suffered moderately from ptsd following his time served & utilized a variety of coping mechanisms such as : alcohol abuse , sex , and wild behavior to try and regain some semblance of control . he managed to land a job as a car salesman for eight years ( 1971-1979 ) before an incident with a motor blowing send him into a rage . he’s been bouncing around in the years since then , working the few odd jobs before ultimately crash landing back in hawkins , where he hopes he can find something steady & finally get back on his feet.
