Bashira and Bakari CAN fly too because of them being Nubia's kids BUT I LIKE THE IDEA THAT, LIKE, THEY DON'T USE FLIGHT CONVENTIONALLY IN JUST THE "fist out, knee up" pose BUT USE FLIGHT CREATIVELY AND IN THEIR OWN STYLES. They are essentially using flight to create frictionless locomotion without ever entering a conventional flying pose. Their feet are near the surface. They might even brush it. But their body weight is being supported almost entirely by flight, so they are effectively air-skating in some fights or deliberately mess with people's perception of how much they truly weigh.
Bashira uses flight elegantly and gracefully: Her heels never quite settle. She'll fight, both feet planted on the ground only for her to suddenly jump up and use flight to give her this uncanny but visually cool super jump that's almost like flying, her toes could be pointed the entire time as she fights enemies or tosses them over her shoulder. She isn't relying on traction when she flies/fights like this SO TERRAIN BECOMES IRRELEVANT. Her foot touches the surface mainly for orientation and visual rhythm, not really for support. So put her on a frozen lake and everybody else is carefully distributing weight while Bashira is just gliding across it like SOME ELEGANT BALLERINA/WARRIOR THING. Like, imagine her skimming one heel across the ice and throw up a little frost trail behind her without ever putting enough weight down to crack it. During resuce events, she even uses her flight to help her stay low to the ground because normal flight high above the scene might actually make rescue harder. She needs to see faces, hear people, identify who is missing. So Bashira descends until she is maybe six inches above the ground and starts gliding through the destruction. IF DEBRIS FALLS, she'll casually just use her strength and flight to catch it and set it aside or kick it to other places that have been destroyed and clear a path.
She basically has three modes: 1) Gliding: Low-altitude, almost frictionless movement. It looks fast, elegant, and controlled. She mostly uses it for combat footwork, rescue, difficult terrain, and scouting. 2) Soaring: like the actual taking flight thing heroes do and 3) Falling: She deliberately switches flight OFF. She uses this for gravity-assisted attacks, deceptive movement, sudden drops, momentum manipulation. That means even if you KNOW Bashira can fly, you sill don't know which relationship with gravity she's currently choosing. An enemy may try to throw her over their shoulder but she uses flight to make herself way lighter so THEY PUT TOO MUCH FORCE IN IT AND SHE FLIES OUT OF THEIR HOLD AND TRIPS THEM WHILE THEY'RE STILL SELF-CORRECTING THEIR OWN MISBALANCE.
Bakari, however, USES FLIGHT LIKE AN ASSHOLE. My guy is rarely soaring because he has his own issues with it but PEOPLE FORGET THAT BAKARI CAN LIKE...FLY-FLY because he uses it unconventionally. He'll be fighting a monster on top of a car before Blade makes a sharp turn and the MONSTER GETS THROWN OFF but Bakari was flying the entire time so he's standing still, even when the car isn't under his feet in the turn and he just waves bye to the creature. He'll "walk on cielings" but in reality, he's just using flight to support himself. LIKE...YOU KNOW HOW PEOPLE MOVE IN THE MATRIX?? ESSENTIALLY HOW BAKARI LOOKS USING FLIGHT. His shoes touch the ground, but his weight is being supported by flight. So when someone attacks from behind, he does not push off with one foot to dodge. He just slides sideways. LIKE—HE ACTIVELY CULTIVATES THE "THAT WAS EASY" LOOK because Bakari also uses flight to make himself seem more nonchalant. LIKE, he already gives off "unbothered king vibes" and effortless swag but imagine he uses for when a villain throws him into a building...but then he just uses flight to casually land on the side of the building with his feet on it just standing side ways as if standing normally on the side of a building was normal. Or when an enemy swings a sword at Bakari, Bakari flips to dodge it but LANDS ON THE SWORD and stands on it normally with his hands on his pockets and uses his flight to essentially look like he's standing on the sword everytime they swing it before he straight up lifts one foot to kick out of their hands, he's still floating at the same level he was when standing on the sword, but then he just kicks the bad guy in the hhead mid air before finally grounding himself.
He isn't a huge fan of soaring in the sky because he also lets people know that FLYING ISN'T ALL IT'S CRACKED UP TO BE. Your clothes get covered in dead bug swarms/flap around all over the place. Flying and listening to music with normal headphones/earbuds/bluetooth/service?? Yeah, good luck. Like he doesn't hate flying but when people romanticize it, he's just there like: "Yeah, that's until you realize you can't carry things, ear pressure gets annoying, and it's really easy to look stupid if you don't do the traditional flying hero pose."
