Some light spoilers ahead!!!
So... Aquaman. Asked for permission to come aboard
Permission fucking granted
I'm not sure I like how close to the comics this suit is but goddamn if momoa didn't pull it off. His personality is very different from what I'm used to in comics but tbh it's a non issue for me. And this played to momoa's strengths and inherent likability

Mera is a damn badass!
Really liked what they did with Atlanna, especially that scene at the end was a tearjerker
The amount of shouting Orm did, as well as his war cries were really nice (mos supes ones are still my faves tho...)
Black Manta is a really great character in this. While he was never the focus he did receive his own origin story and his facial expressions to show his hate and such was on point.
The helmet is a bit stupid tho... lol kept thinking of big helmet from spaceballs. Even tho I dont think his movie costume shouldve been as close to the source as it is it still look good! And at least they explained why instead of like idk fashion statement.
Also rupert-gregson did a really good score. I especially liked the choir parts of it (I'm a sucker for such vocalizations in music).
That one scare in the beginning of the trench part was good. I actually jumped a bit. Wan bringing some of his origins.
The creature design for the fishermen, the trench, the brines, as well as the uh k...sth guardian of the trident was beautiful.
I liked the fight scenes. They didn't feel as heavy as when snyder directed mos and bvs (his fight scenes def cater to my likes) but Wan sure has an eye to make it look good, even the amount of trident tumbling may have been a bit excessive)
I liked how Wan used color and contrast. That flare scene in the trench from the trailer comes to mind. And the use of red in the Sicily part 👌
Continuing with Sicily, that single long shot was very nicely done. Is that going to become a thing in dceu movies? I would love that to a be a thing.
2 hours 23 minutes is a bit long but it was a great time spent!
Happy New Years! 🎉🎊🎊
