cahaya islam - After the Day of Judgment arrives, humans who die will go through stages of life in the afterlife. However, before entering the life of the afterlife, humans must enter the grave or what is also called the barzah realm.
This grave is also touted as the gateway to the afterlife or the boundary between the world and the hereafter. Considering the language, the word barzah means partition.
Besides being a place to live for those who have died before the Day of Judgment comes. Even the humans who stopped there have existed since the time of the Prophet Adam AS.
Death is a certainty for anyone who lives. So, it is our obligation to prepare supplies to go there. However, many still ask about what will be faced shortly after entering the grave.
There are various opinions that develop in society about the condition of a person shortly after death and being buried. Various myths appear which are actually different from the explanation of Islam.
According to Elbalad, as quoted by Republika.co.id-jejaring Ayojakarta, Wednesday, October 13, 2021, the scholars explain a person's condition after death and after being buried. At that time, he was in the realm of barzakh until the time of the end.
The barzakh realm is part of the afterlife, because it becomes the realm between this world and the hereafter. Named barzakh because it is a barrier or road that separates two places.
Even though it is only a stopover place, the calculation of time in the grave or the barzah realm is said to be longer and longer than in the world.
According to member of the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Nurul Irfan, humans who are in the barzah realm themselves can see conditions in the world and the hereafter.
"He (alam barzah) is a barrier, they are grave experts or barzah experts can see the world and can see the hereafter. They are in a place called barzah can see the world and the hereafter," said KH Nurul Irfan quoted from the MUI website, Monday. (20/9/2021).

In addition to being shown the state of the two realms of the hereafter and the world, there are also humans in the barzah realm who have received retribution for their actions in the world. That's why there is a term that we know as the torment of the grave.
According to Ustaz Amir As-Soronji, there are several reasons why humans are detained and tortured in the grave. Starting from not covering the genitals to doing usury while in the world.
There are five things a person will face, 5 minutes after death. That is the first, starting shortly after he was buried. The corpse will merge with the earth, as the main ingredient of human creation, and feel lonely. he will feel foreign conditions in the grave. All will face it whether believer or disbeliever.
Then the second and third, that person will also face the slander of the grave and the questions of the two angels that will not escape the feelings of anyone from mankind or the people of any Prophet.
This will start from the step of the relatives away from the grave. Even the dead will listen to the friction of the sandals of their relatives. Two angels will ask about your God, about your religion, about your Prophet.
Then the fourth and fifth people will face the punishment and the pleasures of the grave. Pleasure and salvation in the grave for those who are able to answer the questions of the two angels well, while the torment of the grave will befall those who are unable to answer them. All these conditions have actually been warned by Allah SWT and His Messenger in order to avoid the torment of the Last Day.
