Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?

Josephine’s childhood was quite happy. Of course, it wasn’t always perfect as it is the case with most families, but her happy memories certainly outweigh the bad ones. Oliver, her older brother, was a wild child, always encouraging his younger sister to spread her wings and do the things she wanted to achieve in life while her parents always tried to somehow tame that wild spirit of his, making him target of most of their lectures while Josephine mostly went under the radar. Still, both siblings were thick as thieves and Oliver was part of the reason why her childhood is mostly filled with good memories. It was only when he and their parents died in an accident that her life went to shit and it was in that exact moment Josephine stopped being a child.

16. What is your earliest memory?

Watching The Beauty And The Beast with Oliver as their nightly ritual before bed.

17. How much schooling have you had?

Josephine did all up to Sixth Form College, having graduated in 2011 with quite a remarkable grade that would surprise anyone who would encounter her these days.

18. Did you enjoy school?

Not more than the average child. She likes to sleep in, always did, so school was a struggle at times. Other than that she didn’t necessarily mind.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

From many different people. Josephine is incredibly observant, not above admitting when someone has exceeded her in a skill. But neither does she dwell on it and instead strives to improve herself. But whether it be her parents, Oliver, or countless other people in her life … Josephine learned from most of them whether it be a certain ability, an opinion or merely a mistake she doesn’t want to repeat herself.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

Her idol was without a doubt Oliver. She looked up to him, strived to be just like him. Even after his death he is the only person she idolizes, despite only realizing now that he had his flaws. 

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?

Josephine was incredibly close to her family, whether it be her parents, Oliver, grandparents of her aunt Clara. She was grateful that her family wasn’t as dysfunctional as those of some of her friends and knew that her parents had done everything in their power to give their children a mostly carefree childhood. Something that Josephine was very appreciative of. Surely, there were tough times, struggles that are common even in the best families, but when thinking back on the time she had with them, she realizes how lucky she had been to have parents that loved Oli and her unconditionally. Oliver and Clara, however, used to be the people she was closest to, confiding in her aunt during times she felt like her mother didn’t understand her and basically sharing every though with her older brother.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Josephine wanted to be many things as a child, covering pretty much each and every occupation that is there. Back then she was driven by curiosity and eagerness to learn, something that doesn’t quite fit the young woman today anymore. Not due lack of wanting but the fact of feeling completely lost and out of place.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?

Following after Oliver pretty much anywhere he went.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

Josephine used to be quite cheerful, a girl whose smile could brighten pretty much anyone’s day. She was carefree and curious, with a distinct sense for exploring and a mischievous innocence that promised (mostly) harmless trouble.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Popular would be an overstatement, but she got along with most people even though she wouldn’t call them friends. Her closest friends were ––and still are–– Armani and (Jeremy) whom she both met during her first day in primary school. They had been inseparable ever since ––despite their difference in age–– and probably caused more trouble than their parents would have liked. It only fell apart when Josie left one day after the accident had happened. Thankfully, Armani found her.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?

Armani. They were still in primary school back then and totally grossed out afterwards, pinky promising that it would never happen again. He swears to this day that it was for this moment he turned to boys.

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?

Not a virgin, genius. She lost her virginity at the age of fifteen to her first boyfriend, Milo. 

28. Describe the sort of person you tend to find yourself attracted to.

Brennan. There is nothing else to say, really. For the longest time she was only attracted to people for the thrill of getting caught, to piss the House off, declare her freedom and get herself into trouble. Her relationship with Brennan started on the same grounds before evolving into something more. He is the kind of person she is attracted to.

Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?

Cosette had a happy childhood despite the strict household she had grown up in. She always considered her parents to be the best a child could have wished for, oblivious to their many faults. Still, she was a happy child and it’s something she managed to keep to this day.

16. What is your earliest memory?

Her earliest memory, she believes, is that of sitting in church next to her mother as they follow the service which her father held due to being the local minister of their church.

17. How much schooling have you had?

Cosette was homeschooled but never really received the same education as other’s her age. She was raised strictly catholic due to her father being a priest and only taught what her parents deemed appropriate. However, Cosette was always eager to learn, catching up by reading a lot even though to this day she still isn’t as educated as other peopler her age. At least not in the conventional sense. She also never graduated, therefore having no degree whatsoever. 

18. Did you enjoy school?

As mentioned, Cosette was homeschooled and therefore didn’t visit a normal school. However, she quite enjoyed it, not knowing what she was missing out on and what her parents failed to teach her, both purposely and on accident.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

From her parents, considering that ––as already mentioned–– she was homeschooled. Her other skills, since being sold into slavery, were taught to her by the traffickers who sold her to the House and various trainers.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

Various storybook characters, such as Belle or Cinderella.

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?

Her family was the only real company she had and they got along exceptionally well despite the strict household she grew up in. However, even to this day she doesn’t fully realize that most of her upbringing was a lie with her parents betraying the law and committing one of the worst crimes that they could possible commit. She still loves them dearly but has to accept that they strayed from God’s path.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Cosette always got along perfectly with children, no matter if she still was one herself at the time or had grown. Children always understood her and never judged her for her gentle spirit. Therefore, she always liked to think of maybe working at a kindergarten. However, with time she came to realize that the one thing she wanted to be was the perfect wife and mother, something that hasn’t changed per se. Now she just wants to be the perfect slave to the one person that wants her to serve them.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?

Reading, hands down. And baking with her mother. To this day, reading and backing are her favorite activities, as well as exploring, still hoping that one day she’ll find that one special closet that will bring her to Narnia!

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

Sheer joy and an overwhelming curiosity. Basically, Cosette didn’t change all that much in that regard

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Cosette probably would have been quite popular if she had been given the chance to have friends. Due to her being homeschooled though and her parents having raised her quite sheltered she never got the opportunity to.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?

Her first kiss was with Aria Reynolds, her best friend back when the other girl still lived in Sterling. She was also the first girl Cosette ever got intimate with even though it was all clad in playful games and fun.

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?

Cosette is still a virgin and ordered to remain one until finally bought permanently by a Master or Mistress.

28. Describe the sort of person you tend to find yourself attracted to.

Cosette has no preferences, or to be more precisely, she was taught by the slave traffickers that anyone spending their time and money on her was a gift, something that needed to be repaid with gratitude. Naturally, she feels drawn to someone treating her kindly, who can provide her with a sense of security and comfort, but she doesn’t have the insight to realize that. Furthermore, she doesn’t understand what it means to feel attracted to someone despite having felt it in the past with a few Masters, more recently Maxwell.

15. How would you describe your childhood in general? “Tense.  I’d grown up in a very old,  sorted town. Family’s tended to have a single child,  only as much as they could afford in those times.  We’d had what we needed and I hadn’t needed to find a job well into my internship when I had entered University.  It was never expected of me to succeed in the way I’d thought, but I don’t regret it in the least. “

16. What is your earliest memory?

”Possibly  the  day  of  my  third  birthday,  it  was  the  very  first  cake  I’d  ever  laid  my  eyes  on. Berries  filled the inside and cream  on  the  outside.  I still have a picture of that day, I’m rather fond of it.”

17. How much schooling have you had?

“I’ve become a top partner at my firm, I’d say quite enough.”

18. Did you enjoy school?

“Immensely.  In my upbringing knowledge wasn’t looked upon like it is now, pride came from hard hands and a cold demeanor upon the land. I found who I was in school, it truly opened an immense figure to the world it hadn’t had before.’

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

“My mother. She was a stern woman, while my father was quite passive. She taught me to savor life for what it was, there was no room for the ugliness if I didn’t let it. I’m quite thankful for her, actually.  Where my father had taught me that one’s integrity grew on the land I’d reaped,  my mother expanded my mind in ways he couldn’t think to. “

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

”Unfortunately, I did not.  Idolizing something, someone was a foolish flaw I’d only read about in books. “

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?

"Being an only child had raised me a rather even - tempered boy,  there weren’t many quarrels in my little family. The only fight we’d have was who would take over the family’s business: I had other plans for my future, and apparently my father did too.”

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

"Initially I wanted to be an astronaut.  And then Frankenstein’s monster, but I had always been passionate about writing. Not anymore, but as a child it was a secret pleasure of mine.”

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?

"I rather enjoyed whittling, the way my father taught me. We’d started on the extra redwood the warehouse scrapped and moved onto the harder surfaces like antlers, bones of animals. Writing stories had also been of interest but diminished when I became a man.”

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

"I was a dreamy little boy,  seldom did I let myself go like other children. I’d found it silly,  to parade around like a child when something older lurked about in my mind.  That being said, I did take to archery as an alternative to skating, or perhaps football. I was quiet and well - mannered.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

"In a village like the one I’d grown up in, children bunched together:  there weren’t many of us and we often spent our days down in the ravine,  near the lake. We weren’t permitted to go near the lake, but we went as close as we could. The children I’d run with were rambunctious. I envied their abandoned pride, but it was easy to fit in.”

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?

"My first kiss was with an older woman, someone my mother had worked with. I was barely fifteen at the time of it, I had no idea whether to breathe or hold my breath. Her name had been Clara, if I remember. It was soft, impossibly so. She pushed me into the broom closet, we were there for quite some time.”

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?

"I’d be embarrassed if I were a virgin at my age!  I was seventeen the night I lost mine. I don’t know the poor girl’s name, but we did manage a few rounds before we both passed out.”

Part 1: The Basics

Character Development: The Basics

1. What is your full name?

Rosalie Vivian Thorpe

2. When is your birthday?

October 4, 1989

3. Who are/were your parents?

Olivia and Sebastian Thorpe. Even though Rosalie never mentions her parents though because their relationship is pretty much non-existent.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?

Rosalie is an only child.

5. Where do you live now, and with whom?

She lives in Sterling City, the city where she was born and raised, despite wanting to be anywhere but here. Living with one of her closest friends, Noah, makes the situation a little better and ever since Aliya and Angus joined them, Rosalie slowly comes to terms with the way her life is. It feels a little like home, something she has never really felt when in Sterling.

6. What is your occupation?

Rosalie studied design back in Europe and is working as the Head Stylist for the Slave House. She is designing her own clothes on the side, aspiring to one day show it to a broader audience.

7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.

Rosalie is blonde and has fair skin and blue eyes, weighs 120 pounds at a height of five feet ten inches. She enjoys fashion, this goes without saying, but you can’t really define her style. She likes to try new things, enjoys colors and different kinds of style. It all really just depends on her mood but as long as she feels comfortable, she will wear it. She has no tattoos and only one piercing in each ear. Nor does she have any scars. Her most distinguishing feature is probably her smile since they are genuine and always express more than her words could.

Upper social class. 

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?

None.

10. Are you right- or left-handed?

Right.

11. What does your voice sound like?

Rosalie’s voice oozes enthusiasm and optimism. She has a very gentle voice and sometimes you can hear how Rosalie tries to contain her laughter or lower her voice simply because she was told time and time again that this is how she is supposed to behave, to be seen and respected but not necessarily be heard.

12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

None.

13. What do you have in your pockets?

Rosalie rarely has clothes with pockets but she carries a huge bag with all her essentials such as phone, purse, hair ties, bobby pins, gum, vitamins, deodorant, a bottle of water, perfume, a little bag with makeup, a notebook and pencil and the most recent issue of Vogue magazine and so on.

14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?

Character Development: The Basics

1. What is your full name?

Cosette DuMont

2. When is your birthday?

July 21, 1992

3. Who are/were your parents?

Camille DuMont (née Margot) and Gaspard DuMont. They are still alive but her father is currently in jail, with her mother having been released not too long ago.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?

Cosette is an only child.

5. Where do you live now, and with whom?

She lives in the Slave House of Sterling City and absolutely loves it!

6. What is your occupation? 

Cosette used to work in a local library back in France, but it was voluntary work she did after school. She has never worked a job that actually pays.

7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. 

Cosette has green eyes and brown hair and weighs 115 pounds at a height of five feet five inches, making her slender yet curvy. She prefers dresses and skirts over jeans and shorts at any day, but if ordered to wear pants she will do so without a fight. She likes bright colors, pretty much anything with which you shouldn’t sit in damp grass and yet that happens to her quite a lot, always leaving her a tiny little bit distraught until the cleaners of The House manage to save the countless dresses Cosette almost ruined. She also likes cardigans and ballerina flats quite a lot. Her hair is either pinned up in a bun or cascading down her shoulders in lose strands, depending on the weather and the occasion. She doesn’t wear jewelry but the cross that is attached to a necklace (a gift from her mother). Other than that she wears barely to no make-up and only a hint of perfume. Cosette has no tattoos nor piercings, always wearing clip in earrings. She has a few tiny and barely visible scars all over her body which are from her last rental with Adam Reynolds. Most of them healed into invisibility. Her most distinguishing feature would be her bright smile that can cheer up almost anyone, even on their worst day.

8. To which social class do you belong? 

She does not think in social classes. To her every person is equally valuable and every person has their purpose. She counts among the slaves, the lowest class in Sterling, but she does not think of it as such. In fact, she thinks her kind is incredibly important because their main purpose is to serve and to bring happiness to the person owning them. It’s the greatest honor, she thinks.

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? 

None.

10. Are you right- or left-handed? 

Left.

11. What does your voice sound like? 

Unlike what many people believe, Cosette can talk. She has a very gentle voice with a French accent accompanying her words.

13. What do you have in your pockets? 

A little notebook, crayons, some hair ties, lollipop wrappers, and a few chocolates.
