The night was warm for winter. Snow had fallen days before, but the crisp air heated with the beaming rays that fell from the sun only minutes before it was eclipsed by the horizon, leaving the settling dusk to reflect off the eyes of a spirit who had made her way beyond her nesting forest and into an unfamiliar land. Steps were taken by bare toes, but not a mark was left in the icy surface of the frozen ground. Tearing her gaze from the setting sun, Lucille looked about. A strange wind seemed to whisper in her ear, but she could not understand the words the breeze brought to her. Strange, indeed.
A full moon caught the attention of blue eyes, head tilting up to where she could almost make out the Man in the Moon. So silent, as always. Not that she was one to talk. Staring up, she could not help but exhale, wondering if she would ever hear from that moon, losing herself in her thoughts, unaware of her surroundings, foreign as they were.
