Oh Kay. The barometric pressure went up one millibar (1 hPa) over the last hour and boy howdy my body did not like that one bit.
The pressure rise is slowing down a little and my body is considerably less cranky now. But during that 22:00-23:00 hour I was very incapacitated. It's a good thing I got that cane.
I'm supposed to bend the air. Not the other way around. Grumble.
It's weird that some days (like today) my heart rate goes BADA BADA BADA BADA BADA after simply standing up and walking to the kitchen. My guess is that this rapid up and down barometric pressure fuckery from the weather is affecting not just my ears, but my cardiovascular system as well. So that's fun. Probably another gift blessed unto me from my bout with Covid.
I did some reading and I think I might have that postural orthostatic tachycardia shit. (That is what the 'S' stands for, right?) Anyway, I should probably have that looked at I suppose.
GASP! I just learned the proper term for those acoustic tsunamis I've been nattering on about in my vestibular disorder posts. It's called a microbarom, a.k.a. "The Voice of the Sea".
Microbarom on Wikipedia
This line was particularly interesting: "the aerologists working at the marine Hydrometeorology stations and watercraft drew attention to the strange pain that a person experiences when approaching the surface of a standard meteorological probe".
Strange pain from absurdly low frequency sound?!?! Yeah! That's what I experience almost daily now.
Now I guess what I need to figure out is why it didn't bother me five years ago, but it totally breaks me now. (It was probably the covid and/or climate change is making weather more erratic and consequently making the Voice of the Sea more like the Shriek of the Sea.)

That blob of red/white dots indicates why I hurt right now.
Lightning produces thunder. Thunder contains the full audio spectrum, including frequencies below 20 Hz. Frequencies below 20 Hz are infrasonic (inaudible to humans), but can still mess humans up like any other excruciatingly loud noise. But in this case, it's brain fog, body aches, light sensitivity, and so on.
What's super wild is that when weather fronts move across the continent, it's always at the same-ish point on the map that thunder starts causing physiological problems for me. That's because infrasound frequencies have ridiculously long wavelengths, so it takes a lot of distance to really notice the pressure shifts. It's like an acoustic tsunami.
Thunderstorms wreck me, which sucks because I love a good thunderstorm when they're overhead. But thunderstorms 2500 km away can suck it.
I’m such an old man. My ankles will be hurting for literally no reason but then i check the weather app and see the barometric pressure dropping, and it turns out that pain did have a reason. The reason was fucking rain.
dog friendly this dog friendly that. well where am i supposed to take Him
