You need to acknowledge that you can't help others if you first don't help yourself, you're more than a support system.

I give you big dog who desperately wants to be friends with tiny kittens. The tiny kittens also want to be friends but tend to get sent sailing halfway across the floor on accident when they try to play (dw we have wall padding so they’re all okay!)
