Last week, my elderly mother shuffled out to the patio to see the sweet pea buds. They were the size of rice grains. She went home and they went crazy.

And everyone but me rolled in the dirt when the rain stopped. Pacheco and Ramona are having a snack.

The zinnia is in the daisy family. Those dark edged bracts are called phyllaries. Each petal is a full flower with male and female parts. I spent my prime adult years studying plant classification, especially the daisy family.

Our second box of limes arrived. John subscribed to a monthly delivery from US Citrus. Another lime pie is calling my name.
