i think about how barley lethal (2015) probably wouldn’t have been a comedy if it were about men a lot. it had some truly dark ideas: america having what is essentially their own black widow program which kidnaps orphaned girls to train them as assassins without consent, the main character megan having to fake her own death to get away, the hostage situation climax, the fact that the first student in the this program became a criminal and terrorist. but no, because it was a story about a teenage girl wanting a normal life away from fighting it had to have stupid jokes, pointless love interests, and the school remaining completely unchanged by the end as if everything they are doing is completely okay. in this essay i will...
